Ok, you got most of the answer, but I suspect as you asked it you don't understand the classes either.

WHen you join the assault game you will see three icons. THere is an icon of three bullets, a cog icon, and a sniper cross hairs icon.
You will automatically be assigned to the grunt class (3 bullet icon) when you join assault, but if you want to play a different class you have to click on the icon of choice. If you click on the cog icon you will be an engineer, and a sniper if you click on the cross hairs icon.

You will also be able to choose what weapons you want to carry for your class choice by using the drop down boxes where the weapons are displayed, as unlike FFA and TDM there are no weapon pick ups, only ammo pickup points.

If you choose to be engineer you will see that your weapon choices are a wrench, a bomb, a pistol, and finally a choice of M4 or health packs.

The wrench in game is what you use to build the walls, machine gun post, gates, and towers. You can see the ones you can build because they have a small sqaure block with a wrench icon on them with plans on top of it telling you what the object you will build is. You can also rebuild any destroyed object that is buildable. SO if you see a destroyed gate or wall you it is likely to be one that can be rebuilt.
To build or rebuild them just select your wrench and point it at the damged wall section or the build block and press your left mouse. You will then see a build progress meter telling you how long it will take to make the object and you will see a transulcent image where the object is being built.

Now you can also destroy stuff using the engineers bomb. So if you see a gate, wall, or tower with a wrench icon on it you can destory it. Just select the bomb and run up to what you want to destroy. Press your left mouse to drop the bomb pack and hten run away, as in about ten seconds that bomb goes off with a fair blast radius.

This is what gives you support points, though you can get them by destroying things as any class if you destroy walls with grenades or mounted truck rockets etc. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Hope that helps.

lol, now I understand why I was getting razzed on one of the clan servers tonight...I was the only engineer on the team, and the guys were giving me sh*t for not doing anything...I didn't realize destroyed walls could be rebuilt...D'OH!!!...at least they left me alone once I told them I was learning...still got a ways to go, obviously. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Here's a little tip for ya now that you're gonna be a building maniac. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif On some of the flags where it's hard to get to them when you're on defense, leave one back wall open so that your team can reach it instead of running around to the front where the walls typically get blown up.

I didn't forget, as touching the flag doesn't give you support points. It gives you points in your score (5), but not in support. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've seen this be effective, but also seen it come round and bit teams in teh *** by giving an easy open route into the enemy, and add to that once in there they know EXACTLY where you are going to come in. If I find this I just sit in there with the saw and start firing before anyone appears at the opening, and just watch the bodies pile up. LOL
At least if they have to blow a hole it normally blows open two sections in the wall making it harder fot them to know which one you will come in from.

Know what you mean though, but just saying I've seen occasions when this can actually work really badly against you. At least if all the walls are up they have to blow a hole, which takes them the time it takes to throw four nades, or for a engineer bomb to go off, which is hopefully enough time to have warned your team or respawned. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
