View Full Version : Don't Drink and Game.

Hey, all...

I was playing Halo online last night after having a bit to drink. Aside from the really poor playing, I also got into an altercation with another girl on the opposing team. I had forgotten about it until a friend mentioned it to me today, and I felt horrible about it. I sent her a couple of friend invites, not with the intention of her actually accepting, but appending an apology for my behavior from the previous night. Both were declined with no response.

I feel really awful about it, and I really doubt she'll see this. I guess I'm posting about it because it's been nagging at me and I just wanted to get it off my chest. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Well, I don't know what else to say other than I feel like an idiot. *sigh*

Hey, you joined into our custom game last night at like 6:30am CST...none of you guys said anything that was bad during the couple minutes you were in there. And by the way, we were dooing the "Long Jump" on Ascension...trying to get the world record. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif It was pretty cool.

What people sometimes fail to realise is the person on the other end of their microphone headset is a real person, too. We're distanced by polygons and bump mapping but that doesn't change the fact that games are a form of social interraction, and as harmless as it oftentimes is, people can get hurt by what you say during a game. Like yo' mama always said, if you don't have anything nice to say...

And as far as the drinking goes, I'm sure you're old enough to know your own limit and you won't do it again. At least you feel remorse and learnt from your mistake.

Quit drinking.
Alcohol is a dumb drug.

Things that normally would not happen while sober tend to happen while inebriated, both good and bad things... unfortunately unlike being at a bar where a friend is physically present to stop you from doing such things, this is not the case when being an online drunk. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif Oh well, i'm sure she didn't it take it much seriously to heart so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Whatever you're talking about, vodka is my best friend. alcohol is great, it deadens pain.

I ran into some people online that were drunk... I must admit it was kinda fun listening to them try to talk to people. And listening to them talk back to people was even funnier. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Yeah, stupid or not, it's done, I suppose. Thanks for the words, guys, good and bad. It's made me feel better. Astragrl...your post made me smile. It's a shame I can't remember what set me off in the first place. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

And Toddy, it's a good thing you guys weren't really playing. That'd be a horrible first impression, to end up with like two kills and 30 deaths, ten from walking off the edge..

Thanks again, everyone.

Ah, bah. After talking one of my friends I was playing with that night, I got some clarification. She says it's not like I started off being an a**hole. The girl on the other team started off with the usual, 'What are you, 10?' I guess I'd heard that one too many times...

Wish I'd known that BEFORE I tried apologizing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

My personal favorite is the people who definitely havent hit puberty yet and they start talking smack after you beat them, and you tell them to "Grow some hair on your balls before you start trying to talk trash after a loss." Then their comeback to me is saying "Yeah, and you're probably like 30 and just sit at home all day and play videogames"
Oh No! I'm 30! And I play videogames ALL DAY! I don't know how either of those are even insults to be honest.....but thats what you get with 12 and 13 year olds. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

You know, I have to admit there is something about a young voice that makes it that much more irritating. What I really think is they know this, and these evil little geniuses do it on purpose. That's why they sing gibberish, that's why they ask for the beam rifle over and over...and my most (least, actually) favorite... that, um. I can't spell it. When they go something like, 'Ya-uh, ya-uh.'

Oh, God. I know what you mean. But what's worse is that I LIVE with someone who is like that. My brother gets on Xbox Live and screeches like a dying puma for hours on end. HOURS. On. End.

I will not say that you should drink Kisses. But as for me. I am good at stopping when I should. So I will keep on doing it. It's just to fun.

haha yeah i had afew beers before playing in some clan matches today. everyone playing could visibly see me getting drunker. my scorew would slowly slip, then one game i did better then most on my team. it was funny because my hit percentage in most games was like 10. i went drunk ghost driving and got a killtacular in 1 fatal swoop. enemy flag was outside and they were standing on it. drinking and games go hand in hand. they are both addictions that take you into another world. doin both is twice as fun!

you're talking about that sound from the Chappelle's Show, aren't you? i can't believe so many people are copying Dave Chappelle.

Oh, is that where it's from? I don't know, I don't think I watched a full show of it, ever. Comedy Central is probably one of the channels I watch the most, but the Chapelle Show is just...not funny. Jon Stewart all the way! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

After like 8 months of no drinking at all and all the **** going on here at the moment I decided to drink half a bottle of scotch. Well everythiong started going wrong. I couldnt play at all. The ubi forum server was down and I thought I was banned (receiving http 404 errors which is usually a reason the server doesnt want say why). My LAN fell apart. My new PC was having problems. Other PC got a virus (how I dont know).
In the end I figured it was the alcohol. So I have stopped drinking again. The next morning everything worked ...

I live in Iowa City, that's about all there is to do here. We have the University that is known for its drinking, then we get to the football games and get all the tailgating from more drinking. You really can't get away from it. Being under age blows. After being on several bar crawls, and seeing how completely hammered some people get it just gets kind of annoying since I'm not drunk myself.

Sorry to change the subject again, but those little kids can be annoying, like some kid wanted to be in my boyfriends clan, so they played some games to see how he would be and he kept on asking my boyfriend for the battle rifle but he was whining, my b/f was like forget that.
And i know what your talking about when people say ya-uh, my b/f and his friends would say it all the time, hes not a kid (obviously-haha), but thats there clan name but its spelled yeaah, and they don't say it like dave chappell when he makes fun of little jon, they have there own way of saying it....but anyways yeah kids can be annoying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif especially when they sing loud while everyones trying to talk in the aftergame lobby, im like shut the f*c* up!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

It can be really annoying sometimes.

I remember a game where this one kid just didn't stop slamming us (I made it my business to really only kill him) my team was about to lose (we were already short a player). All I remember was my Live friend and I saying great now we're really gonna here it, as the game was ending.

He started yelling at us and his own team told him to shut up. After he got mad and left, the rest of us couldn't stop laughing.

Well, if you're going to be drunk and gaming it definitely helps to just let everyone know you're drunk. True, it's rather juvenile to announce your drunk but at least when you're playing badly and mouthing off they'll be more likely to dismiss it.

Teenagers suck, always have, always will. If they weren't necessary to perpetuate the species I would recommend setting them on fire. But eventually they grow up if they're female...males, well, we never truly grow up. :P

Don't be stereotypical. It's like saying all adults that use the internet are perverts. (WHich really is bull****.)
