If you had a private audience with the dev's and best mod / mission makers, what missions would you like to have made for you for SH3?

Historical recreations? Fantasy? Secret missions? Famous missions?

Have a think, come back and post them here. You never know, a mission maker might read your post and think "What a good idea!" I need to say at this point I'm not an epxert mission maker!

Here's one - I'd like some clandestine missions like inserting or picking up secret agents, you'd have to travel to rendevous points, updated by radio messages, obviously without being detected, wait til darkness, approach a beach or a small boat where a secret agent would be waiting. You surface, bang open the hatch and he makes to climb aboard. Sudennly - AALLLAAARM! Aircraft! and your conning tower is lit up by a searchlight! you dive and turn away but now there are DD's bearing down you and the only means of escape, and keeping the agent alive is shooting your way out.

Go mad, let your imagination run riot!

I was thinking something more like the Guns of Navarone- except in reverse. Secret German mission to sneak through sub nets and approch coastal batteries or a hidden base in rock formation. Surface, launch raft with spec ops and then retrieve them. Of course it wouldn't go right and then the destroyer chase would ensue.

I would realy like some secreat missions, you know real spec ops stuff. What would make it even better would be if it was integrated into the campaign.

Your off blowing up tankers when you get a return to base order. Once you get back to base you are issued with a secreat mission to take a group of sabatours to America and if you do this you will get some new prototype equipment. Or you have to tow a prototype V2 launcher out to a precise location inorder to launch the missle and once you get there you have to stay on the sruface for the better part of a couple days as the engineers prepare to launch.

you have to take a group of german engineers a couple of japaneese diplomats and a strange heavy lead lined crate to a rondeview with a japaneese sub.

Got to be the Normandy landings, imagine the sea filled with allsorts, floating tanks, landing craft, BB's shelling the coast.

Run in quiet and pick the best, saving private ryan meets sh3...

Well gents, some of that stuff can be and has been done.

I have made five singleplayer missions - from rare to heavy scripted - dealing with the adventures of U42, an imaginary VIIb boat without historical background. They were created in 2005, when patch 1.2 was available.
They'll run on vanilla SH3, any modcompatibility is untested. I've implemented some harbour traffic to wilhelmshaven and one mission is the first available "real" wolfpack attack. They run with 1.4.

This mission "U42WolfpackAttack" is rarely scripted but available in english language.
Thanks again to the Avon Lady for translating briefing and internal-boat-communication.

I was looking for some people to translate my german navy style briefings and boat-communication into fitting english navy speech, but I wasn't very sucessful. Maybe one of you guys will have some fun with your translating software?

First mission (U42Stahlgewitter) is rather unscripted. You'll have to interfere or simply watch (F12) a surface battle between one british and two german task forces. Nelson and company against Admiral Hipper and Prinz Eugen Task Forces. German Luftwaffe will try to sink Nelson...
Well - a nice 30 Mins Movie. Do your best to sink the Nelson if you want.

Second mission (U42DerKurier) will make you transfer an important officer of german high command from the Azores to Madeira. You'll have to have some imagination here.

Third mission (U42WolfpackAttack) will make you part of a wolfpack attack on a guarded atlantic convoy. Your two compagnions will attack from the north and sink some freighters but will be attacked by the watchdogs.
Your boat is closing from the south...

Fourth mission (U42Waffentest) is heavy scripted. Your boat is temporarly commanded by a scientist who wants to test some torpedoes in a navy testingground. You're ordered to reach the shootingrange and sink six freighters with different torpedosettings. After that you'll have to bring the guy back into the harbour and dock your boat.
Not your mission, if you have problems with insubordination...

Fifth mission (U42Geheimauftrag) will make you decode (very simple) your operation area and follow BdU orders to demoralize some british "Hunter-Killer-Group" testing.

All missions include internal boat communication. Some of the fun is based on this fact, therefore it's nescessary to have it in english language. The ReadMe files will give you important information too.

Well, if someone wants to help out I'll be glad to offer some adventures...
You should be able to match the navy atmosphere with your writing style.

Send an e-mail to triplex at cool ms, put SH3 into the headline.

Edit: U42WolfpackAttack.mis (http://rapidshare.de/files/32131552/U42WolfpackAttack.mis.html) - english version!
Free Download!!
(Create folder U42WolfpackAttack and put .mis in. Insert folder into ...\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\SingleMissions\En glish. Start SinglePlayerMission)

@Mittelwaechter, Celeon here on the forum should be able to translate them for you if he has time. Celeon?

I remember once reading about a raid conducted on one of the channel islands by a u-boat crew.
They attacked a weather station/radio beacon. It would be too x-boxy to involve any crew sneaking ashore and joining them for the shoot out, but to dump commandos there, then begin shelling the station @ the alloted time, then waiting by to pick the commandos up, all the while, playing cat & mouse with passing warships.
This would be bad for the nerves, but tonnes of fun

I surface just off Manhatten Island. I tow a V1 Victory rocket with my life raft that I have brought with me across the Atlantic to the shore, strap President George W Bush to it and fire it at North Korea.
I then kidnap Ms Gina Davis (actress) and bring her home to Bristol.

I think they should expand on the date range, start with 1939 and add more historical missions but extend it, lets say to the year 3010? we could then choose futuristic missions with advanced U-Boat technology.....lets say it's the year 3009, the US and UK for instance have been split and are barely recognisible due to numerous nuclear explosions, the atmosphere has altered, there are huge active volcanoes off the English channel, we have underwater bases buried deep into the earths core(milk cows 2000 meters down). One of our missions is to destroy the huge meteor set to collide with what's left of Ireland, and destroy our 2 mile wide underwater pipeline which brings us our only means of fresh clean water.
Most survivors of WW8 live on huge floating sea vessels, the few land dwellers of the west(now called Euromia)inhabit the surviving ports and are our means of communication and supplies. Euromia is allies with the USCA(United States of Citizens America, South) and at war with USAN(North). The USAN vessels are on a mission to destroy our supply pipelines and their MV's(melting vessels) have orders to destroy our Icecaps in the north(there are a few citizens living on the icebergs who supply us with our main means of clean drinking water). WW9 has now started.........the year 3010........the crew of UXX10 have been given orders to destroy the incoming meteor and defend PL101(pipeline). Three USAN task forces have been spotted travelling East.....the hunt is on........

Could i ask you why Wilhelm?

WilhelmSchulz.
09-06-2006, 04:15 AM
its a WWII sim.

Ali_109
09-06-2006, 05:22 AM
I understand you Wilhelm, but i have never excluded the fact that SH3 is a WWII sim, in fact i would like more of the historical missions added.
I was replying to RJ's post:
Quote: Historical recreations? Fantasy? Secret missions? Famous missions? Unquote:
This was a sort of fantasy mission looking to the future of sea craft, and it certainly wasn't intended to take away the historical value of WWII.
BTW: I watched Das Boot last night(thank you Celeon and Silent O for making me aware of it, i have Fatherland on order), and i am currently reading Wolfpack-Uboats(Philip Kaplan) at war 1939-45) and also I have been very lucky to buy some editions of U.Boote! (they are all in french though) but i am struggling through with great interest.....i am currently on edition 2 - Les Bases: printed in 1989.
Wilhelm, my intention was never to detract from history........and i am looking forward to receiving your Monsoon mission....thanx

A radio message intercepted from a small task force reporting engine trouble with... An Illustrious Carrier! The message is sketchy, with only vague grid references, but the damaged engines on the Illustrious can only make turns for 2 knots whilst her DD and Southampton Cruiser escort buzz around her guiding her towards safer waters and aerial cover.

You have the the rough estimation of it's position, the weather is poor which could help you penetrate the Escort screen. The Illustrious is a sitting duck but what about those DD's and the Cruiser? - they'll be on full alert!

That sounds like a beta version of a mission I made and sent to Wilhelm!
I have the finished version here if you want it RealJambo as I have fixed a few ****ches.
I have played it online a couple of times and its a real buzz, the finished version I mean.
I am on BST so if you want to play let me know.
I will send you the mission if you want it anyway or anybody else for that matter just leave an e-mail address.

The excellent film "Hunt For Red October" was on late last night, got me thinking about an SH3 equivilent nmission - a U-boat goes awol, and it's your mission to sink him.

PS: U301, I missed your kind offer when you posted it, I'll pm you my email address. Thanks!

this may not be sub related, but I'd like to see a campaign with a german Q-ship.

Secondly, the ability to capture a merchant and assign a prize crew. The type of cargo depends on the renown. Of soure it will need to be escorted.
