I just bought AC2 and everything installs fine but when i try and play it and it tries to install the patch i get an error saying Trying to get update information to C:\Users\kaushik2\AppData\Local\Temp\ubi2C6E.tmp. Found update (Patch, all, all). Trying to download update file from http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/***..._creed_2_1.01_eu.exe (http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/assassins_creed_2/assassins_creed_2_1.01_eu.exe). Destination: C:\Users\kaushik2\AppData\Local\Temp\ubi2F1E.tmp.e xe. Fatal download error (Connect failed). Deleting downloaded data.
i tried to download the patch manually but then i get an error that says Could not retrive installation folder! installation was aborted
Please help me

Which version of the game do you have, Retail disk or STEAM, D2D etc. ? Steam will auto-update and patch your game to the latest version available, when you start the Steam client. That patch won't apply for a digital download copy of the game.
If you have a Retail copy, then first try reinstalling the game again, and then Patch it manually, If the Auto-update does not work on the Retail Version. (If it's a Steam, or a D2D copy, then make sure the game is fully downloaded/updated.)
We usually get this error i.e. Could not retrive installation folder! installation was aborted., because the PATCH file is unable to locate the game's installed Path and folder, or the registry entry may be invalid/missing. Did you install the game on some Other Windows partition, or Operating System/OS ?
You must try reinstalling the full game again, if you have a Retail copy. Have you properly installed the full game ? Which OS are you having ? Though this WON't be necessary, but you can also try applying the Patch Manually under 'Win XP SP2 Compatibility mode', if using Windows Vista/7.
Close all background applications during the Install/update. Also disable any Windows Firewall, or AntiVirus you may be having. As a side note, also make sure there is enough FREE Hard disk space for the Update/install etc.
Which Internet connection are you using ? The game should Auto-patch by itself, but it looks like there was some Internet connection drop at your end. Check your InterNet connection again, and try using some other WEB BROWSER, if you continue to face this problem.

I have a retail copy and yea the installed properly i installed the game on the C: drive. i have vista , tried the compatibility mode but it still dosnt work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif umm yea i have like 20 gb of space and i turned my firewall and antivirus firewall off. my internet works fine umm i run a 2mbps connection and it runs perfectly. Sorry for the lack of info did not reall know what i needed to post. i reinstalled the game 3 times now and still no luck. soo is there any thing left to do or do i just return the game or get help from ubisoft?

Looks like you have some problem with your OS. Some registry entries are corrupt/missing.
So the UBI GameLauncher file is also giving you a probem ? Try this method which I'm giving, and If it does not solve your problem, then yes, please contact 'UBI SUPPORT' for proper help and guidance.
To resolve this issue, you will need to manually install the GameLauncher software, which handles the online authentication in the game. Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.
First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Programs & Features' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel. It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.
After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows). Please do not skip this step, it is very important.
Once you have manually deleted the files left in that folder, you can reinstall the GameLauncher software from here:
Before doing all the above, ''First Close all unnecessary startup programs''. To do this , have a look here:
Also Delete all the ''Temporary files from your PC'':
From the Start menu, and type %TEMP% in the search field, and click OK, this will bring up your Temp folder, Delete all the files in this folder. You may sometimes need to turn on the ability to view hidden files and folders to do this.
