For those of you looking for a refund, you have legal rights that have been violated. You are entitled to a refund. You may want to look at these materials:
Legal Info (http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/jnmly/bait_switch_or_how_i_learned_to_stop_raging_and/)
Get a refund, < comments removed > and report Ubisoft to the BBB (https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx) while you're at it.

I'm not planning on getting a refund, the DRM doesn't bother me at all.
Why do you encourage pirating?

You're a tool if you don't mind being openly lied to.

Perhaps because that's the only way to get a product that was advertised and paid for?

For anyone who lives in Texas, this is a copy of my complaint to Steam:
"Tell you what, so we don't have to keep going round and round on this, I'm going to just lay it all out for you right here. If you still deny me a refund after reviewing this information, I will be filing a small claims lawsuit against both Steam and Ubisoft in Travis County, Texas.
According to this transaction record, I purchased From Dust on August 17th at 15:21:12 Steam server time, which is around 17:21:12 local time for me (Central Time Zone). Below is a link to a screenshot of the confirmation email I recieved from Steam for my purchase.
(Link removed due to my email address being visible)
As the following screenshot shows, at this point, Ubisoft was still claiming on their forums that a ONE-TIME-ONLY activation was required for the game.
http://i1103.photobucket.com/a...tMisleadingClaim.jpg (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/kjolnir/From%20Dust%20Complaint/FromDustMisleadingClaim.jpg)
I based my purchase on the claims made by this post, which has subsequently been removed from the Ubisoft website, and replaced with the following:
http://i1103.photobucket.com/a...FromDustNewClaim.jpg (http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g470/kjolnir/From%20Dust%20Complaint/FromDustNewClaim.jpg)
Please note the timestamp on the post - 8/18/11, at 11:14 PM - AFTER I had already made my purchase based upon the misleading information. ONE-TIME-ONLY activation is materially different that "'From Dust' requires an internet connection when you start the game." They are NOT equivalent, they mean two very different things, and the one-time-activation claim was clearly a false claim.
Below is a link to applicable Texas law on this issue:
http://www.statutes.legis.stat.../htm/PE.32.htm#32.42 (http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.32.htm#32.42)
Sec. 32.42. DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES
(b) A person commits an offense if in the course of business he intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence commits one or more of the following deceptive business practices:
(12) making a materially false or misleading statement: (A) in an advertisement for the purchase or sale of property or service; or(B) otherwise in connection with the purchase or sale of property or service.
Ubisoft made a materially false or misleading statement with regards to their DRM, which they are attempting to cover up. Steam is the retailer and is party to this deception. I am asking you one more time, politely, for a refund. If you do not issue one, I will be taking legal action.

Agreed. It's silly for them to lie and obfuscate and refuse to refund such a small amount of money.

As long it is fixed, I am happy without a refund.
Game looks good, some effort is required to make a good looking game. I don't care if it was a port or not.

How can I do this if they won't answer my emails? Both Steam and Ubisoft have ceased responding to my tickets. Is there any other way to contact them?
Also, I'm perfectly willing to turn this $15 issue into something much worse if it's possible. I will not tolerate being walked all over by companies such as Ubisoft. I'm an honest, paying customer and deserve better than this. It is extremely disrespectful and anything I can do to hurt the company, I will gladly do.

You could try a google search for their phone numbers. A lot of times that turns up numbers that are either hard/imposible to find otherwise.
Incidentally, MOST companies have a "no hang-up" policy where their reps are not allowed to hang up on you, even if the conversation is over and you're both best friends. They are REQUIRED to wait for you to hang up the phone.
So, if they don't give you an answer you like, just don't hang up. Put 'em on speaker and chat with them the rest of the day.
If they really are just ignoring you, I'd file a claim against them in your county's small claims court. That's what I plan to do if I get turned down for a refund again.

Here (http://lo-ping.org/2011/08/18/valve-to-offer-refund-for-every-sold-copy-of-from-dust/) is another one about how to get your money back.
Something to think about. If you bought the game from steam and you played the game, they will know, as steam records all gameplay. So do not think you can get a refund after playing it.

Uh...how will you know if the DRM claims were a lie unless you DID play it over at least two sessions? You wouldn't. I don't view that as a very big obstacle.
