They had me at Ultimate Fighting Championship...

Then they lost me at the fact that by UFC, they mean that they're just putting up episodes of a show I already own on DVD (Ultimate Fighter: Season 1) & the fact that it's only in the United States.

Therefore, I conclude with a 'meh'<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Sounds nice. Now if MS would get off their duffs and release a larger HD for the 360. Why is Korea getting the 100GB drive, but not us?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

To quote Roy Scheider from Jaws:

"I think we're gonna need a bigger boat."

20 gigs is not going to be enough. I only have 2.4 gigs left on my hard drive. I need to dump some stuff that I don't need.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

My 360 movie rental/purchase place, interesting. Though a much larger hard drive would be nice.

I'm interested to see more of how this service works.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I am in absolute awe. I knew Digital distribution was going to take over, I just had no idea it was going to be implemented before Christmas this year. This is what the future of entertainment will look like kiddies. Buy stock in server companies now.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

These downloads have to be compressed a bunch. Otherewise I'll have to dub these shows/movies the hardrive eaters. I saw somewhere, a device that helps you transfer and use your comp drive to store stuff. Not sure if it's practical or not.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It'll be a quick way to kill the free space, that's for sure. Though for movies, it sounds like you're getting them on a 'rental' basis. After the time period is over, they'll be removed from your drive automatically. I'm not sure how it works for the other media.

Just have to wait for more details. Too bad it's not available in Canada. Meh!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

According to IGN's articly posted above, You can delete and redownload the TV shows without charge after the initial purchase. No worries on fully occupying your HD.

"Television shows will be sold in much the same way that Live Arcade games are. After purchasing them with Microsoft points, owners will begin downloading them and will own the show. That means they can delete it off of their hard drive and download it at a later date without having to pay for it again."<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I knew this was going to happen quickly. Valve has already locked the steam service and are doing quite well with it. And on the subject of compression ratio's all of the media creators (ex: SONY PANASONIC SAMSUNG...et all) have formed a group to develop a HDWI-FI distribution setup that they plan to have in place within a year This would allow wireless streaming of HD signels to any media device from your phone or IPOD or 360. All of these companys have combined thier resources to make this happen. Sell your stock in EB and the like because once the digital distribution thing happens bigtime, Those stores are going to go bye-bye. SONY is already trying to do away with the ability to trade games in because they do not make any money off of the resale.

Just think all you WOW people! You'll soon be able to download all the patches and expansions to your "world" you need without leaving the comfort of your house/apartment/Mom's basement! Eventually, you may be able to completely sever your connection with all actual human beings! Won't that be rad!

(Yes, I can pretty much turn anything into a dig at WOW.)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I really doubt that the physical mediums will be going anywhere soon. People predicted that the electronic media would spell the end of books, newspapers, etc. Why bother with books when you can download e-books? They said the same thing about music CDs - why buy a CD when you can download them?

What people often forget is that many people like to have tangible products they can hold in their hands. They like sitting in their recliners while reading the newspaper. They like having the original copy of a CD or DVD. One of the things I've missed since joining Netflix is going to the video store and perusing the new releases, often picking up movies I'd never heard of before.

I think the electronic on-demand media is here to stay, and it's a good thing to have. But don't discount the old-fashioned stuff just yet.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think the reason people like the "old-fashioned" stuff is becase there's a sense of security in it. Conceptually, it's easier to lose an .mp3 than a book.

If I'm guaranteed that once I've bought the digital version, I can always re-acquire it without an extra free (or with an absurdly low one), then I wouldn't buy any CDs at all.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
