I'm just very happy to find out they have not given up on this game. I read that, from giving us a seperate PC-forum. The patch will be here.... Please let them finish it.

Maybe once we got our "own" PC section here, then we can hope for "own" patch http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif
If that doesnt mean that we are pushed out of "main stream" .... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Let's hope so.

I've noticed that since the 360 patch came out that the PC community/responses just slowly trickled to all but a stand-still. I think most PC gamers have basically given up on this game. I check from time to time for an update but I don't play the game anymore. I play a lil Crysis series and Far Cry 1 but with no chance of an SDK for FC2 the game is going to be severely limited in longevity without user created mods. See ya

An SDK would be very nice for FC2, but I don't see it happening. It's hard enough just to get a propper patch.

Still no patch. Doesn't suprise me at all.

Yes I did. So?
Console patches are out. It's been a few days now. Where's the PC patch? (That's 4 times.) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

It's a software development kit. Used for making mods.

OK, thanks for the reply..but how would an SDK enhance Far Cry2? Does it mean that players can fix there own bugs?
On Topic:
Do you think they seperated the forums because they knew the PC patch is a long way off and they didnt want the PC guys complaining about the game to the console guys. Which would be bad for business.
Just throwing it out there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Lol. I was thinking the same thing. But sadly, we may be right on this one. Hell, I highly doubt they'll release a patch for us pc users at all. But, I've learned the leasson, I'll never buy any crap that's released by ubi.

To see what the potential an "SDK" has look up the Far Crysis Mod in the works. With an SDK users have the ability to alter most any aspect of any video game. Some examples are custom weapons, custom enemy AI, wildly altered physics, custom objects, custom game modes, and that's just touching the surface of what an SDK could provide. Will you ever see one for this game or any other Ubi montreal game? I hiiiiiiiiighly doubt it.

On the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 forum, this is exactly what they've done just before giving the finger to the PC audience with a defective patch (1.03).
This is typical UBI business.
By the way, about the Far Cry 2 PC patch, do you realize that <span class="ev_code_red">this game was once hyped as a game exclusive to the PC</span>? Yet, you guys are going to get the patch long after the console boys and it's probably fair to say that this patch will be botched, possibly even broken like the R6V2 patch.
It's weird now isn't it? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Sorry to kill the conspiracy theory, but the forums were seperated because they were a nightmare to moderate and manage.
Plain and simple...
Should have been done months back but Kudos to BlackWidow for making it happen...

Back on topic, I'd imagine a console patch would be easier to get out the door since the hardware is identical on all consoles, compared to the PC which can have numerous configurations.
Saying that, if all programmers and hardware manufacturers ensured their code/products where standards compliant then a game that works on one spec shoud work fine on another differing spec....in an ideal world of course http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Why do mods, devs, and mngrs talk about everything else but avoid saying anything about the patch? Bunch of crap if you ask me.

You do realize the patches for console games have to be certified by the console manufacturers right? That alone adds to the time it takes to get a patch for them out.

Yes I do, certification adds to the time taken for the patch to be released to the consumer, and the time taken for certification to be given varies greatly from what I've read.
However, my point was that the time taken for the devs to create the patch and send it off for certification is surely quicker than the time taken to create the patch for the PC as the PC has numerous hardware configurations that throw up issues, compared to the consoles sharing the same hardware configuration.
In an ideal world, if the code is DX9 and DX10 compliant, then there shouldnt be a DX9/10 issues on all compliant DX9/10 hardware for example - though in the real world we know this isnt the case (namely drivers issues).

You are assuming UBI actually test patches for various configurations. I have seen where numerous devs have stated that the patching process for the PC is much simpler and quicker than consoles.

I guess its because the console players are a bigger market. Neglect the minority and try and keep the majority happy. PC gaming is decreasing all the time what with the advancements of consoles. Its a shame because I will always be a PC gamer.
The patch will ocme, its just how long along the road.

I've got a really horrible feeling that everyone is going to be terribly disapointed with this new patch. There a such high expectations like: More server control, solving disconnections...ermm... and so on. My point is that I dont think it will be that good. We are talking just a patch here.
I mean, have you seen what the patch has got for the console versions... thats right...absolutely nothing considerable... atleast for me.
I just think people are getting their hopes too high.
50th Post. Wow... that deserves celebrating!
