Crank outside temple

Please help I cannot work out how to turn the crank to open the door. I can grab the handle by pressing the 'o' button but then I cant seem to move it. I.ve chcked walkthroughs - but they just say thing like 'turn the crank' or push the crank' or 'push into it' - I,ve been trying for an hour! really frustrating . please help anybody -what should I do??

Not sure if I've been there yet, but so far every turnstyle I used i've needed elika to help. Then I just push the left stick straight forward to push and straight back to pull. Sorry if this doesn't help, I've just started the game myself. Once I get going I'm usually able to answer any and all questions, so soon enough I will be able to be of more help.

I.m still not getting it. Elika is telling me with her 'compass' to go through a gate thats covered in 'gunk' if I climb up to the left theres a capstan 'crank' - I can grab it ,( so does Elika) with the O button but then I just cant get it to budge - please help someone I,m going mad!!!

How far are you in the game?Is this the temple you are trying to enter into,or is it a black gate?

Not very far - I've just get the first of Elika's powers - the Red one - now we're in the desert and we're supposed to be of to heal more lands!

Your not supposed to enter the temple again until the end of the game.Teleport with Elika to a healed ground using the map,then select the location you want to go to next,and see if her compass power works correctly now.

I'm having the same problem. After completed the green power (with all the necessary lights). Being in the desert, where we can see the 4 powers, I've choosed another one but nothing happens. the compass points to the door but the door is covered with corruption, and the crank to open the door doesn't work. Elika keeps saying that they should go to the temple. Please help! thanks!
