WR. As you seem to have the best advice I am appealing to you directly but of course inviting all interested to join in. I have switched from the general to the community help forum just to follow protocal. The last try at making the game run without crashing (second A10 campaign mission) failed again even with turning down the weather pattern from 10 to 8 and then to 5. At the third crash I set the graphic settings to low and got CTD even before the game started. It just seems to be getting worse. So for the second time I have uninstalled the total game removing every UBI file I could find on my pooter. I am ready to start over for one last time and will include a HD defrag after loading the game. Any hints will be helpful and seeing this seems to be an ongoing process I was wondering if there might be a better way of communicating than this form?

Im pretty sure your 2nd mission in the A-10 campaign CTDs are due to the mission itself. I was relying on advice from others for that weather change suggestion. All 3 of my PCs will run the 2nd mission without a problem.

First of all how about running some A-10 single missions and leave that campaign for a bit? Or use the De-Classify procedure to run other missions in that campaign. You probably need to get a few problem free missions in before you get too aggravated. Use the Open menu choice and use the A-10 missions. You may not have as many listed as I do below but there will be a few to get you into the air (hopefully without a problem).

The guys who hang out around the forums and try to lend a hand now and then are just other LockOn flyers. There are about 2 1/2 years of corporate knowledge in the forums and we rely on what we've read about how others have solved various issues and problems.

Check back to see if someone else has any suggestions on how to crack that 2nd mission in the A-10 campaign.

And check your forum PMs.

If your computer is running 98 / ME (my old one was) then the second mission of every campaign just crashed the game, if this is the case with you just download some mission packs from lockonskins or files

I run XP Pro and just played a successful first mission in When Hogs Fly but, sure enough, mission2 crashed. Sheeesh!

Im starting to wonder if you have some type of memory management issue with the campaign engine, or maybe just when trying to run missions one right after the other.

Next time you go flying after you complete one mission in a campaign exit LO completely and then go try the next mission in the campaign.

Also something to try: Fly several stand-alone missions one after the other. For example fly the A-10A_Defensive_CAS msn then the A-10A_Offensive_CAS msn and then the A-10_Oil_Terminal msn. Will be interesting to see if you can fly back-to-back single missions without a crash.

I have flown several stand alone missions back to back almost without incident. The second was completed up to the point of landing the aircraft when at touchdown the game crashed. The other was in a total snow storm and lasted about five minutes. The successful missions are usually almost cloudless weather conditions.
