gold guns

I have seen the levitating mercs and have had a few imbedded in rocks; after running update. My biggest question is about the gold guns. What is their meaning and how many has any body else found?

The purpose? In the poor environment of Africa it is kind of a status symbol for leaders, Golden AK = I am better than you.

Thanks for the great help. Have played thru 2 times and so far have done some missions different from first time thru. Can't wait to go again now that I have downloaded some items.

There are codes for bonus missions, a free Intel mission pack,(Google them) and for a few $$,(i paid $4,95) there's a DLC from Ubi with some MP maps, and some new weapons, and 2 new vehicles.

Where did that come from?

The gold AK47's don't wear out on you.

They don't rust, they don't corrode and they don't explode in your face in the middle of a fire fight. Nothing else as far as I can see.

There are other weapons that I prefer over the AK47 but I'll go out of my way grab one of the gold ones to get me through the initial stages of the offline game and past the required weapons shop missions so that I can buy the ones I like.

True, unless you buy the basic AK47 from the weapons shop you can't add the accuracy upgrade but over 50% of the people you kill will allow you to refill your ammo if you reload before stepping onto their dropped weapons for the next assault.

Actually, the golden AK will wear out eventually. Keep an eye on the finish, when it loses it's shine, it's only a matter of time(shots fired actually) before it atarts to jam.

"Eventually" is the key word there for me.

One gold AK gets me through all of the Northern Map's weapon shop missions and enough diamond case collecting to get the Dragunov, Dart rifle and grenade launcher, which I buy all at once along with upgrades, before starting on the Cell Tower, Buddy and Faction missions.
