Hi guys. Atlast I'm live, and my god have I been missing out! Xbox live really does rock and I just can't believe I didn't get on sooner. I havn't ejected vegas from my machine since I bought it!! BUT LOOK! Heres my problem...I'm **** at it! What can I do to start racking up those kills, and start helping the team I'm on with a valid contribution of kills instead of my usual 2 or 3 pathetic corpses?? Maybe its my gun. I use the commando assault rifle which seems ok at distance but always seems to get me killed up close? They reckon the mp5n, but that gets me killed too. What is the best rifle to use guys, and what are the best tactics?? Cheers

i was exactly like you last decemb3r, and ive been addicted to mp for hours a day and by now ive run thru every wepon and do best with the famas, and with the sub i go with the noob mp9. everything depends on armour too
ive really loved the story of this game too, and have been running thru levels on normal (im not quit an elite for the realistic story mode of this one),

the gun is as good as the player wielding it. in other words, it not the gun, it's you, just try getting better as a player, no terrorist hunts, and games with respawns. i won't tell you my strategy because it probably wouldn't suit you, everyone thinks differently, but i will tell you this; do whatever it takes to stay alive. example, when playing on streets, don't ever use the fast ropes and don't be in the open for more than a few seconds. choose your weapons based on what you are going to do. if you are going to sit in the keno room and get people when they go back stairs, use an assault rifle or sniper. if you are on backstairs, you're trying to get people going back stairs, so use a sub-machine gun because you know most of your shots will be at close range. Everone is different, some people always use assault rifles and some only use submachine guns and then there is the [EDIT] with the shotguns. i'm great with assault rifles and sub-machine guns, but my sniping could use some work. Use whatever gun suits you at the moment. if you're a far better with a sniper instead of an assault rifle, go for it. One of my keys to winning (in attack and defend on defense) is stay in your position even if no one is coming. if you have people covering every route, their bound to go your way sometime. If you feel left out because your not getting kills, still guard your post. if you left the elevators to go get people backstairs because thats where they are all going, they are bound to go elevators with no one guarding and get the package. as far as armour goes, i wear no armour, because i'm the type that moves around alot, if you are more of a camper and sit in one spot often, i would suggest 10 bars of armour. if you want my opinion of what guns are good, here they are:
sniper: psg1 or m40a1 (i thinks thats its name)
assault rifle: famas or 552 commando
shotgun: spas12 or XM26LSS http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
sub-machine gun: mp9 or mp7a1

Inform your team of threats & they will in return inform you.
Learn to anticipate the opposing teams movements.
Try to push the opposing team back at all times.
Do not camp in your spawn area!!
Finally...
Practice your shooting, always aim for the head & spend as little rounds as possible.
(it's possible to single tap the fire button to squeeze off one round)
Practice shooting without relying on the scope.
Do not over use & rely on the cover system!
The type of gun you use is gravy really.. most of them can be lethal in the right hands http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Basically, play more and experiment with amounts of armor and types of weapons. No one is amazing when they first start out, it just takes a bit o' time. Also, play against and with people who are better than you, because when you play with/against them, you start to pick up stuff. Nothing much to it really. (Oh I almost forgot, don't be afraid to ask people on your team where some good spots are.)

Stay back and stay in cover. The last thing you want to do is go Johnny Rambo in a SS match and get killed 20 times.
Buddy up. This is a good strategy for anyone, but especially for newcomers. Learn to play off someone, cover their back, advance and retreat as a team within your team.
Learn the maps. All the maps have choke points, places where most of the kills will happen. Learn routes to these places, good points of cover and, as you get better, routes to get in behind these places.
Also, don't be put off by someone calling you a camper. running and gunning is harder than laying in wait and has as much to do with confidence as skill. If someone wants to go tearing through the map only to get popped by you from cover 5 yards from your spawn, that's their problem not yours.
Most importantly, enjoy it.

You just need the winning formula thats all. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
But in seriousness just keep practicing. The best way to do that is to keep playing story mode and t-hunts in normal and eventually realistic difficulty. Then when you know your reactions are fast enough to get a head shot in seconds, then your ready for the big boys.

It's all reasonable advice, BUT (sorry guys) if you really wanna get good and fire more accuratly you gotta do the following:-
1) Play a match of Sharpshooter calypso casino and one of kill house. 20 minutes long. 2 people only on the match.
On calypso casino - go to the Keno room and straight ahead you'll see a row of Tills. Go to the wall opposite and get out your chosen pistol (any, whatever suits you). Aim at the tills and try to shoot them all off the counters/tabletops with only one shot per till.
Yeah, you won't get it done the first time but its practice. It works with even the worst pistol MK23 i believe.
Now, you have 20mins so shooting 8 tills wont do.
See the tvs above you and the big Bingo screen to the left, I want you to try shooting them all in cover, hide behind the white cluttered tables. Now, wait b4 you rush ahead, I want you to be patient.
Hold RB down while in cover (Hold LT + RB), a circle with arrows and four boxes will appear on your screen. Push forward on the left analog stick/ Thumbstick and the red cross you see is the crosshairs. Aline the centre of the crosshairs with the circle and arrows on the sides. You can also you blue tac if you don't mind staining your TV.
This helps you aim at still/moving targets while in cover and not having to pop out and get shot and killed.
Now practice this and aim at the corners of the Tv's in the room. Try and shoot the very edge of the tv corner, just so the bullet hits the screen in the very corner you choose (4 to choose from) if your succesful the screen will smash and the power will cut out. Do this to all the tv's still keeping in mind you only have 10 seconds for each target to make to think quicker and aim faster.
Now theres a few tvs in there so it should take you a few minutes if you do it patiently but also properly.
Now on the casino floor where all the slot machines are. Try moving left to right and edging forward each time. Imagine someone is shooting at you and you need to dodge there bullets but make sure yours hit.
Try shooting and destroying all the slot machines on the whole floor in 1minute. Keeping in mind that all this must be done with your pistol.
If you don't want to be timed, try taking cover and shooting then moving towards the target dodging imaginary tracers and taking cover again after shooting. This will help you make decisions quicker and helps you get used to moving around when there are more than one of the enemy.
Now, i must warn you. Loads of noobs use frags when people are good at their weapons. So keep in mind that you also have frags. Try throwing some at anything you like and see how much destruction you can create.
Basically this gets you used to the controls so you can play much easier. This all happens to everyone when they start, the game comes over as a picce of **** but give it time and you'll soon be sucked into the invisible black hole and you'll never be able to escape it (well until you reach a higher rank such as major and start to get bored of the game like me, but ignore this for now enjoy the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
Now, on kill house the same rules apply, only this time there are real targets on the map to aim at. Using a pistol again try shooting the heads off the targets on the opposite roof from the one you should be standing. In l8r matches when you get better, try moving around much more crouching up and down etc...
These are just two maps as an example but there a plenty you can practice on, Get your mates or people on your friends list to join in so when your all ready you know each other well enough and can start practicing on real targets.
Now, the best weapons to use in order are,
Pistols = 92FS, Raging Bull, Desert Eagle
Sub-Machine guns = P90, Mac 11
Light heavy machine guns = ? i wouldn't bother, too powerful and not so accurate
Assault Guns = Schar coq, mtar, 552 commando
Snipers = PVS (i can't remember these, i don't use em much http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)
Shotguns = 870mcs, XM(noob canon, be careful many get kicked for using this weapon, in the right hands you are undefeatable),Spas 12
Now, i personally think when it comes to ranks when you reach Sergent Major everything from there and up doesn't change much.
The first lot of Armour and helmets are important, but move ability is also needed so have half of protection of 3/4 if necessary.
But, i personally think that ranks are just to say how many matches you've been in. There are plent of Elites but not all of them play like true elites, so keep that in mind.
Keep practicing, and enjoy it while you can. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif Go me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Firstly, learn the levels. Since you've "had Vegas in your drive" for some time, I'd imagine you know a few.
Then run around 'em. Ignore the advice about staying put; mobility is your greatest ally in Vegas. All this junk about tactical play being a game of hiding is total ****. Learn how to shoot for the head while on the move - find a good smg (MP7A1 is a great start, but there are better options) and hit the ground running.
Running and gunning will get you out of more situations than waiting around in one spot. Cover is useful for dodging grenades and reloading -- nothing else.

mp5n is good mp9 with laser is good mp7a1 one with laser is good... imo
but when your moving close to the target crouch so you can see the reticule.
try pistoling for a time to get used to headshots.
i went 30 12 with glock only.

Ignore everyone here and just play. You'll find your own preferences.
