Ok, so I've been waiting for some time for Microsoft to let Xbox players play online for free. If Ubisoft offered that through their Uplay, they would have millions of users in the matter of days. The fact that you have to pay to play online has pretty much been the deciding factor when it comes to buying an Xbox 360. I'd rather play my PC games for free.
Anyway, I hope this is a step to such a revolutionary concept, and I'm sure if Ubisoft wanted to stick it to Microsoft, it would have many people backing them.

as a current xbl gold member(as it's called)
i agree with what you're saying.paying to play online makes you think twice;plus xbl service isn't all that great.i bought my xbox360 'cause i had the org. xbox and NEVER had a problem with the system;but this is my 3rd 360 system(2 i bought)(3rd one was a replacment by micro;driver problem)but i really have been thinking of going back to SONY due to the fact online play is FREE..XBL IS JUST TOO STRICT WITH THIER COC TERMS.peeps getting thier xbox banned from live play(after paying 49.99 for a yr.)for playing a game earily(before it's release date)and the game was sold to them and is a org.copy just they paid for the earily release title..that's just wrong and bad bussiness practice

1) Free XBL will never happen. Period. Microsoft makes WAY too much money off of it. You're more likely to see PSN start costing money rather than XBL become free. And well for PC, that'll likely always be free. We all say how GFW Live FAILED when they tried to make people pay for it.
2) Ubisoft would never try that; Microsoft would never allow it.
My main reason for gaming on the 360 is the community of folks I know on there & the massive amount of time/blood/sweat/tears I've invested in nailing out achievements. Digital bragging rights. :P

Although I don't like dishing out $50 a year to play on XBL I do enjoy it over PC gaming and gaming on my PS3 simply because its a lot easier to find people like me to play with. That is the only reason I still have my gold account up and running.

First off if you were caught playing a game that was released early they aren't going to ban you. They were only banning modded consoles. They have yet to keep any ban on anyone who purchased a legit copy of any game.
Second, and this is just my opinion, I like the XBL service. The games I have played go alot smoother than on PSN. Microsoft puts their money from accounts into servers. I have yet to experience any bad connections on XBL. I cannot say that about PSN.

XBL works, and I'm happy to pay for that fact.
