Exception type error call stack 14 levels

When I get to Age 4 Lakj-ahn, I get the following" Myst V Error The Myst V client has experienced a serious error. Please report the information below:
Exception type: Access violation

I uninstall, reload on a clean boot and have no files showing up prior to reloading. Yet the new boot comes up with all previous positions as continue and not new.
I've tried 4 of 5 positions and can not get past this point or have a clean reload.
I have DirectX9 XP with SP2 and no other problems with other games.

This has been a relatively common problem. Something's not quite right on your pc. (Stack overflow is always a client-side issue).
