Hey guys... I've been playing Raven Shield now for 3 years and I bought a new computer and now I can't play it.

Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon? 64X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+
2.6 proccessor 2 GB of Ram

Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE 256mb Video card...

But I lag soooooooooooooooo bad. Why? My computer is fine and I have cable internet. I run BF2 Fine.

Listed supported video cards start at 6600. Your card while it technically has SM3.0 support, is the absolute weakest one available that can even load the game up.

If you want the lag to go away you'll have to replace that thing.

Whoops. Good point. :P

Anyways, I recall vaguely there being some issue with Dual Core processors and Raven-Shield since it was designed and developed before the advent of multi-core processors. Don't remember much about it unfortunately. Try alt-tabbing and switching the affinity to one core, or downloading the dual core optimizer from AMD if you haven't yet.

Alright TedSmith,
So I alt-Tab and how do I switch to one core?

I tried the optimizer from AMD it didn't do ANYTHING at all.

After you've alt-tabbed, hit alt-ctrl-delete to bring up the task manager. Click on the processes tab if it's not already on it and search in the list of programs there for the Raven-shield exe file (forget exactly what it's called). Right click on that file and you should have an option to choose 'set affinity' Then just make sure only one core is checked and click ok. Close the task manager and go back into the game.

Pretty sure that's right. Been a while since I had a dual processor machine and I would assume that the dual-core machines work in the same manner.

Yup it works now... weird though.

In other words thats like saying " Your PC is too good for RvS"

Anyother things I can do to fix the problem? getting little lag not as much now.

Yes, that's exactly the situation. Your hardware was developed after the game was, and after they'd stopped releasing patches for the game.

It's just a matter of compatibility and support. The game is older and didn't have support for that processor type coded into it, that creates problems.

It's something that will happen with major technology shifts. Pre-SLI games don't tend to handle SLI systems well, pre-multicore games don't run well on multicore systems. Not all new technology is perfectly backwards compatible. Once the shift to multicore has become more prevalent in the next year or so we'll see less problems with it.
