I must say that Halo 3 and Oblivion are at least as good as AC. But they're pretty different...

What do you guys think?

Judging by the videos ,I think Mgs4 might be better than AC, mainly because of it's cinematic appeal.Sadly I won't be able to play it because of it's ps3 exclusivity. I hope they make it for the pc and xbox 360.

chanses are lim(1/∞)
meaning none.

And I don't think there is a game better than AC out yet. Not in the platformer genre at least.
I don't believe we can compare shooters to platformer to RPGs, because they're so different that it comes down only to genre preferrence. not to actual game quality.

Metal Gears have already come out for the xbox because it is a konami game not a sony game. So chances of it getting to 360 are more then none.

Microsoft publishes Halo 3 and they are not going to publish for the ps3.

In my opinion, the GTA and Elder Scroll games are.
I enjoyed Bioshock and Mass Effect more as well.
I felt AC is a good starting point in what can be an excellent franchise, but apart from graphics and level design, I could not say it is a great game.

It's interesting that no one has mentioned this game in the same sentence as Assassin's Creed, considering they have so much in common, but I think every game in the Thief series is absolutely amazing. Mind you, I'd hesitate to call it BETTER, as Thief: Deadly Shadows has a good three-year advantage on Assassin's Creed, so I've had more time to bask in its awesomeness. I'd be very interested to see if anyone at Ubisoft looked to the work done by Looking Glass for inspiration.

Yeah,it is on those systems as well.. xD

But I'm warning you, it's short.
About 10 hours.

But it has amazing replay value. Even though Namco doesn't give you anything for playing through it again, you want to play through it again, lol! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Okami.
It's my fav game, so IMO it's better than everything.
Story, replay value, graphics, gameplay, fun - everything is there.
BTW new Prototype trailer is out, now it's in my "must buy" list http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well Fahrenheit is 4.5-6h but that doesn't leave an empty feeling of shortage does it?
I know how much because I recorded it with Fraps and mixed the videos in one big one. sadly I lost the dvd and when I found it again it was unreadable. a hundred hours of recording, re-recording and encoding down the drain.

lol 10 hours aint short, and i tend to take alot longer than most to play games..im not one to run through them at light speed

i think that ruins the fun

You can keep dreaming buddy.
Uncharted is made by Naughtydog, and Sony, I believe, published it.

Getting it on another console... yeah... keep dreaming... xD

Out of the current crop of games? I have to say that Orange Box (PC), Mass Effect (360), and COD4 are way better. Crackdown and Assassin's Creed are on par with each other, what Assassin's Creed does better would be graphics, and a more detailed story. What Crackdown does better is just provide zany explosive fun co-op.

Thief - Hitman - Splinter Cell: All top Assassin's Creed and humble it to death. The "stealth" in AC is not awful, or bad.. it's horrendously non-existent. When compared to those classics, this game should have been called "Free-running Creed". There's some kind of french cultural thing with parkour and free-running, I've noticed a few french stuntment and even a movie or two (only one that comes to mind is Banglieu 13, on of the same guys is in Live Free Die Hard diving through all kinds of cramped spaces) where it is very cool and impressive. They fixated on this and forgot to include all aspects of "Assassin" in this game.

I have to admit the story did drive me through all the boring repetitive and completely useless "investigations" but the ending was the final nail on the head- horrible ending (don't care if it leads to a sequel, it never ties up ANYTHING in the present game).

It really doesn't matter that Thief/Hitman/Splinter Cell/Mass Effect have been out longer, or have uglier graphics. The core gameplay mechanics are solid, the story progresses nicely. In the case of Hitman which is a far older game, they earn the adjective of "free form" far more than AC does when it comes to mission design.

I was also shocked to see that Jasper Kyd did the music for AC, there was hardly any music and it was pretty bland http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

In any case, Hitman 1 was plagued with bugs and problems, and it wasn't until Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, that I think the series really began to shine. Same with Thief 2, while Thief 1 was good, I thought Thief 2 really attempted to present a more complex and thought out story. Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, while a step back in some ways in single player was a major leap in multiplayer functionality with a completely new genre for multiplayer gaming, but it was Chaos Theory that really impressed everyone as the best "complete package" for the series available.

That said, the promise AC has is there, they do not need to mess with the graphics, they are stunning. Nor do they need to play around with a better control scheme, it is fluid and easy to master. They DO need to focus on stealth/mission design and improve the voice acting and hopefully a better soundtrack from J. Kyd this time around.

Have to firmly disagree with you there. Metal Gear Solid is supremely overhyped, and while the early NES Metal Gear games were important in establishing the viability of Stealth as a genre of gaming, Metal Gear Solid is little more than flashy (and meandering / boring) cutscenes and some slipshod hiding-behind-crates stealth action. The worst part is that its gameplay is inconsistent with 'Tactical Espionage Action'... as by the end of the game, you find yourself firing rocket launchers at giant robots. Have to say, I can think of stealthier activities than firing an RPG at a battle mech.

Again, I really like Assassin's Creed, but I think it's a toss-up between AC and Thief.

Eidos are making deus ex 3 so hopefully a new thief will follow. But they dont have Warren Spector or Harvey Smith on board so it might be ****. Saying that, there are probably some people from the AC team gone off to work for Eidos Montreal on deus ex. So It could be good. Invisible war is one of the most underrated games of all time. The gameplay mechanincs of Bioshock are ripped directly from that game. Invisible war also has far more redundancy than Bioshock. Whole chunks of dialogue can be missed depending on your choices. But for real choice in gameplay wait for David Brabens Outsider in 2009... respect to the Braben.

MGS series has some outstanding moments like:
Raiden swims the big shell
sniper battle with the end

But Kojima should have changed the camera system 2 games back. That was unforgivable. Also the resident evil 4 system is weak compared to gears of war. Theres no cover in RE4 but then you dont need it because you're not fighting against people with ballistic weapons. The game would be unplayable if the enemy had guns.. enough already

And I bet they dont have enemies with guns in RE5 or they would need a strafe and cover system
