This is a place to hang your hat and prop your feet up while chatting and enjoying a virtual pint. Have fun and as always follow forum rules but feel free to post anything here if for instance you want to talk about the weather or say "I'm surprised how well the Pirates are doing." or "I'm looking forward to this game" etc.

Funny you should mention it, but I'm shocked at how well the Detroit Tigers are doing. There may be a snowball fight in Avernus any day now...

That they are. Detroit did finish the year rather strong trying to not set the record for loses. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Maybe the sportcasters' cliche about momentum actually has a little merit. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well it has been awhile since I visited this forum...had to change my name since I couldn't remember the password for the old one...used to be Stryder_3, now you can just call me Tanis. Green Griffon Inn looks like a nice place to sit back and relax for a bit. Barkeep I'll have a pint of your finest ale and a leg of lamb medium well if you don't mind.I've been away at the Temple of Elemental Evil testing my swordsmanship against all manner of nasty little buggers. So if you need me I'll be over there in the corner reflecting on some of my closer calls in that horrible place.

TOEE did they ever fix the horrible problems afflicting the game?

They are still waiting for the "official" 2.0 patch. From what I undestand Co8 has released a 2.0 patch and is currently working on a 3rd patch and possibly an installer to go along with it. I had to DL the fist patch just to be able to play the game, something tells me my $50 would have been better spent elsewhere now that i have had to put up with all this nonsense. I understand that game programming isn't as easy as some would think, but I would think that if you are going to release a product and want to continue to be profitable and possibly even respected you would make sure your products amount to more than a $50 drink coaster. But thats just my opinion...I could be wrong. Other than extreme slow downs, choppy game play, spell effects that won't go away, and summoned monsters that never seem to leave I suppose its an ok game. I can tell you this tho, I will never buy another title from Troika or Atari again. They really dropped the ball on this one.

I never really had any 'horrible problems' with TOEE. Just minor glitches. There were tow others who used to frequent here that were able to play thru TOEE with no problems. I guess it depends on your computer configuration.

I have also just been told that there is another TOEE patch out. So that should solve a few problems at least.

Man what is it with the length of time between patches? Games are practically dead about time they realy fix things. Even in the consoles there are bugs cropping up.

Had I looked properly, I wouldn't have bought the place across the road 'cos I wouldn't want to put a friend out of business but, since I have, Roz, how'd you fancy a pint in The Pickled Goblin once it's up-and-running..?? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Raedwald dusts himself off as he looks for a seat. Just thought I would drop by and say hello. Been down in the depths of Myth Drannor for a spell and decided to come up for a bit of fresh air.

About TOEE, I have it loaded up on my HD, but haven't touched it yet. It seems I will wait and get the newest update before I travel to that place. I also purchased NWN Gold. I like it. Must finish POOL first before I tackle that one.

Hey wench, a large pint of yer best lager here.

There is a 2nd patch for TOEE and it seems to have fixed several of the problems. From what I hear though it does not do anything for the horrible slow-downs in the later parts of the game. I installed the new patch and have seen a vast improvment in game respnse time.If you have the game installed I would highly recomend installing the 2.0 patch before you even start the game.

I ran into quite a few bugs with TOEE too. Not being able to complete quests, crashes when trying to use the craft skills, and other annoyances. the patch seemed to fix most of them though (at least some of the time)

The real patch work continues to get done at www.co8.org (http://www.co8.org) ...they have been the real support in patching the game. Strange world when the fans of a game have to fix it. TOEE is a great game if you get it patched and working well...give it a try.

Action: the manner or method of performing: a : the deportment of an actor or speaker or his expression by means of attitude, voice, and gesture b : the style of movement of the feet and legs (as of a horse) c : a function of the body or one of its parts...

The only problem with football (or any other US sport) is the time difference. Being up at 0400 to watch a game is a bit extreme for me right now. Getting up that early is okay for PT, but not to sit on my couch! Good thing I like soccer also - but all of this cricket is kind of awful.

Not only do I like soccer, but I used to play on a few teams as well as officiate! Maybe I'll join a league here this year. Of course, one large difference here is that since this is the Middle East, they don't exactly have an abundance of grass except in the Winter. Therefore it is effectively outdoor arena soccer played on concrete. So my advice is that you not try slide tackling anyone. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I tried a bug zapper to deal with cricket, but some of those guys are big! Thankfully you can seem them coming for quite a ways due to the white uniforms and bats. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It probably cuts down on the headers too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif "Oh look there his head beat the ball into the net. You don't see that everyday Marv."

MDS_Geist
10-14-2005, 01:40 AM
Oh no, it does not cut down on headers at all. Despite the fact that it is on conrete the game is just as physical and even faster than on grass. Hell, in Iraq we were playing on hard packed sand, and that's far worse than concrete and one hell of a workout.

I'm decent, although it's nearing the end of first quarter and things are a bit stressful...especially AP Biology, I swear that class is impossible. Other stuff is easy though.

MDS_Geist
10-27-2005, 12:26 PM
AP's are supposed to be hard! Although my baby sister mentioned something called IB's that are supposed to be harder in some fashion. Effectively you're taking a freshman bio course in AP, so I hope that brown accepts AP credits. If not, that's kind of annoying but it will make freshman bio easier if you have to take it.
