I just finished Black Mirror, an Adventure game/murder mystery. It was very gothic and creepy! The ending was a bit lame and there was a lot of "fed-exing" to get stuff done, but all in all I enjoyed playing it. Beautiful graphics. There were even some scary parts that made me jump!

Oh I just saw that the other day! It looks really creepy! I have a couple of other games lined up for now but I want to get that one, too. It took me a long time just to get around to Black Mirror (I ordered it while I was waiting for Uru and then I got all sidetracked with TOEE, so it's been sitting around collecting dust for quite some time)!

Sounds like you've done played more games in the past two or three months than I did all last year. Then you go and beat me pretty badly the other day in Quake 3. I guess that makes you this boards Game Master now. I've created a monster.
Truth be told, I was getting bored with Quake 3. I was bored with it when it first came out so I didn't really play it. Playing you is really the only times I played it. So if you're ready how we move on to another game that has multiplayer. If you want another shooter I suggest Serious Sam 1 or 2. They should be around $20 each if not cheaper. How about a game where we can play cooperativly istead of against each other. Like an RPG. Or how about a strategy game where we control armies (think chess on a massive grand scale). These are just ideas. Go thru the games you have and see which ones allow multiplayer.

Oh, yeah -- that's mighty convenient, isn't it? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif I finally get good enough to do a little butt-whoopin' and you're bored http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif!
You can't completely stop playing Quake with me, though, because it's not the same with the bots -- they don't strategize (like when you were under that grating area and I was just outside the door and neither one of us had a teleporter so we had to battle it out -- that was so cool!)
But I think a cooperative game would be fun! How do you play RPGs like that? I barely have any games and I know I don't have any that fit that description, so I'm open to suggestions.

Actually I had a teleporter. I grabbed it before I jumped down thru the grate. I was just waiting to see if you could figure out how to open the grate and come after me. Of course I had an ambush all set up if you did. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Cooperative play is just as it sounds. We would work together. If it were a shooter then we would be like a two man fire team, covering each other from the monsters. An RPG, one could be a fighter class and the other a magic user, or a rouge and a cleric, or whatever, and together we cleanse them realm of evil.
Come now, let's be off. There's a battle in the offering! We've got kingdoms to save and women to love! (now who knows the movie that quote came from?)

I can't help you with Myst or puzzle type games, don't really play that genre. As for RPGs, there are two types of them, Real Time and Turn Based. Which type does your husband prefer? A good place to start is the Baldur's Gate series. It set new standards for RPGs with it's engaging story/plot, NPC interaction, and humor. It's RPG series that all others are judged against. It's a few years old so should be found low in price.

Try looking at some of these here:
http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/tac/index.html
Some games have demos that you can download and try to see if you would like it. Also some games have movies, kinda theater movie trailers, that showcase the games features and story so try viewing them. There are plenty of games out there of all types and styles. You'll just have to go looking for them.

Gab, here's a comic superhero game that came out in '02. http://www.irrationalgames.com/ff/
It's a single player game and really good. There is a sequal coming out in a couple of months. If you're a real comic fan you'll like this game. It's done in the classic golden age of comics. I dare you to download and play the demo and not get hooked. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yup. It IS old-The requirements on the box say ' Windows95/DOS CD-ROM Pentium75+, 12MB RAM I found it in a second-hand shop...
Presented by Arthur C. Clarke & Gentry Lee in conjunction with Sierra On-line.
I played it back in 98, but still think it's great for such an old game. Fun puzzles trying to learn the languages of other creatures, some mathematical, some colour based. Not toooo hard.
(the box also says ages 6 to adult http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gifguess I fit in there somewhere http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif)
