have you really played BF

... i am kinda mad. i really am. i am starting to see a lot of people say "don't make a average game like COD or BF" or something around those lines. i mean you act like it is a bad thing to be like COD or BF, COD 4 is without a doubt a breakthrough in Gaming history, it was a amazing game, i wish i could say that about there later releases. and BF, a average FPS, really people! don't tell me its a average FPS, look at BF3, its not average, its bringing destruction, jets, the 4 best MP maps ever made and 32 on 32 player gameplay, tell me one game that has put all or more of those features together and been successful... so my question is how BF games do you own, be honest now.

its the simple reality that people on this forum are interested in Far Cry aside from other FPS games. i think i can safely say that everyone on this forum has both played and enjoyed those mainstream shooters. the reason why people on this forum are slightly more hostile on those games is because this forum isn't about those games, its about a game that we go too to get away from the typical FPS games that are DIRECTLY adopting features off each other, over and over again.

some people want for this series to drive more mainstream, others feel it must be kept seperate. I'm in the middle, i believe that good gameplay mechanics should always be incorporated into games, but i also believe that a game should stick to its own zest and should incorporate NEW ideas aswell as adopt from others.

that my friend, i can agree with, all games have there specialty.BF series with a mixture of squads vehicles, destruction and large maps, call of duty with the fast paced FPS action, and then there is far cry. what is its specialty? oh yeah it seems they cant decide, one game is mutants and the next its realism! guys just decide already, i hope far cry 3 sets the goal for the far cry 3 series.

although i agree with you, you didn't give me the answer i wanted. most people have never played BF in there life, or they played BC2 and said "wow this game sucks i keep dying constantly" (thats because it takes more than 3 minutes to get good at it). when it comes down to it, i have been really upset with the BF community because all the COD players saw the BF3 trailer and "wow that game has awesome graphics and destruction, i should go buy it and own some noobs when it comes out" but the problem is, they go to all Youtube videos on MW3 and put BF3 IS GOING TO SCREW MW2.5 HAHAHAHA LOLL LOLAHAHA..... and then theres me, the college guy that is the only Conservative in his entire Campus (taht gets disrespected by his teachers for polical belifs)and needs some time to have fun that would like to go online and wait and watch awesome videos on his favorite games, and i see this. its pathetic, and embarrassing to be a BF fan now. and then there some of you out there that play the Far Cry series. i understand you like FC, i share the love, but then you go off about how much BF and COD is mainstream. when there 2 very different games. not only DICE is by the far the most loyal developing company i have ever seen, and don't call me a fanboy, i have a Xbox PS3 and PC and trust me when i say i have a large set of games. so for now on, plz be respectful to other game companies unless you have something good to say or something based on fact.

oh man BF 1942 is a classic and it is widely considered blasphemy to say anything about it. The BF series have always known to be able to have expansive multiplayer servers(large environment, lots of players). The destruction thing is a one hell of an addition to the series. Strong multiplayer; that's their strength.


The reason BF succeed is because they push their games engines to the max. That's their trademark; so leave it be


I've seen some recent games try to copy other games successes. The new Hitman Absolution game is copying Splinter Cell Conviction, which is a bad, bad move for the series. FPSs is copying each other that's nothing strange.


But where do we draw the line? Hitman's gonna die, and now we see Far Cry 3 is going mainstream and trying to copy COD's success(that's right, I said Call of Duty).


I mean if you got a talent you might as well stick with it. Far Cry definitely got something; to do it differently would hurt the series


Totally gonna get BF3 though. Besides that you must be insane to even think about getting MW3

If I wanted to play BF I'd play BF. I don't want to have BF gameplay in FC because the series is different. I play FC when I'm bored of other games like BF. If it was the same as a game I already own there'd be no point in buying it.

hold on a second bf3 doesnt have the best mp ever , it is the best multiplayer so far.
fc3's multiplayer=no info when u see fc3 multiplayer gameplay first then u detetermin which is da best.

finally, a explanation that comes from someone who has played Games as long as i have, everything you said i agree with, a lot of games try to be like COD and BF, (the clash of the titans this Fall) and fail most of the time, which why i agree and thank you for giving me such a good answer. thanks to you i now see why people have been putting down BF and COD, the're scared that FC3 is going to move away from what is special about there game.

so what i have to say to you people on this site is this, COD and BF have set the standards for FPS online MP, games are going to base there ideas off that core Gameplay, weather you like it or not. its just how things are going to work.

and if there is one thing i agree with more than anything its that DICE always delivers Amazing Engines. you cant argue with that statement.

The reason DICE has managed to pull a lot out of the consoles is the fact their engine is NOT totally dynamic. And their destruction system isn't so awesome really. Just parts of houses disappearing and casting a smoke particle effect, that is too dense anyway, just for hiding the choppiness of the process, and when enough of the walls are destroyed it just activates physics for some house parts.

well that's progress, and by time they will improve. But to be able to have everything blown to bits is pretty impressive

watch the video and you will change your mind about what you just said, by the way the shell hit the building and yes it did stir up some dust, but even then it seems like Frostbite has downgraded the smoke. next time you say something, back it up with facts not some dumb idea you just came up with.

My favorite is battlefield 2 (I own it). I like the slow pace thinking combat and driving your squad in a helicopter. Parachuting down in this game is actually a thrill. LOL

I don't own all the battlefields but out of all the ones i have played, I think BF2 has the best team based strategies. Bad company was actually kind of a disappointment because of the small scale run-n-gun tactics. Totally unlike Battlefield.

No wonder. It's a console game! LOL

totally agree, i love the graphics and destruction of BC2, but combined with the BF2 core gameplay, it should be a awesome game, cant wait to get my hands on the BF3 beta tomarrow.
