This is just some info for anyone that has a dual processor running XP (intel or AMD),and I'm
sure some have noticed it with some games,Splinter cell and Rainbow 6 Vegas to name a couple have some pretty poor performance and some of it is due to the programming of the multi core config.
Here's a couple of links to help one is to Microsofts explanation, which really is of no help because to get the Hotfix (which by the way is KB896256)you have to contact them to get it?!
The other site has a very good explanation on how to make the registry change, and download
the hotfix,,also there's a small boot.ini change, but it all is explained with images on what to do.I did it and it helped alot,,its not a minor change either. If you've ever played a game and changed its Affinity to one processor and saw a jump in fps by a large margin, this is what it fixes.Unfortunately for me its not as big a jump on the previous mentioned games as it is others.Good luck and please backup your registry, boot.ini and set a restore point first just
in case.

Microsoft is saying the hotfix will be in SP3.
and by the way I'm just the messenger, trying to help.
