Hi Everyone,
Can you give me a hint on the best way to do the balcony jump in the neighborhood. I tried everything I can think of. I am trying to get some markers and to do that I have to do the balcony jump. I must be dumb, because no matter what I try I can't seem to get it. Thanks in advance.

gnorke,
After many months, I was able to accomplish the balcony jump. I followed these instructions. (http://www.digitaldots.org/uu_banners/Balcony.pdf) They call for an optical mouse, but I tried several times with a ball mouse and made it. Good luck!

I am Rik in the cavern.

Hi urikrak,

Because I am a newbie and because I do not play UU, I will ask you questions from a newbie perspective but first I will give you a picture taken in fly mode from a spot where we can see an overview to what I beleive is the place your are refering to (free gift)...click here (http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/yandefia/BALCONYJUMP.jpg)

If this is the place you are talking about, you could use "Paint" and add a few # to indicate the run while facing the stone spot, direction of the jump and the landing spot you are aiming for.(the door to the classroom is the one on the left with blue button).

1- In the regular solo game, after completion , because we have access to the upper balcony and to the other lower balcony above the classroom, am I right in assuming that in UU you do not have the same access (re: lower balcony above classroom) through Relto book ? Which would explain the need to jump.

2- Is there more than one marker to be found ?
If so you could add the approximate locations for them on the picture.

3- When it says that you have to be facing the "stone", does it mean the slab in front of the door or the stone wall at the end of the upper balcony ?

4- Do you know if it is possible to make that jump in the regular solo game? (I am very curious http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif)

5- I am also curious about the "cone jump". Are you saying it is possible to jump on top of that cone and that the cone will not move?

At the moment I cannot think of any more question so I will be looking forward for your answers.

See you soon..http://bestsmileys.com/waving/3.gif

Hi, Nanouk
I'll answer them the best I can. Thanks for the cool picture! When I get access to Photoshop at work, I can put the markers in. There are two. One is on the roof, and the other is over the courtyard, accessed by a jump from the roof.

1. Yes, I think that is correct....But only in the CC version. See #4.

2. There are 2. Waiting for Photoshop

3. The stone slab in front of the door.

4. From what I understand, the jump is possible only in the single Uru:Ages Beyond Myst, also called "Prime". It was a bug in it. In the Complete Chronicles version, they fixed the bug so it's not possible. Someone please correct me if I have it wrong.

5. Yes. Only because the cone is up against the wall. There is a more difficult move which you jump up on an inverted cone, then sit on it. It takes a lot of practice.

Hope that helps.

Your feedback is well appreciated. I hope the picture will be of use because some people are more visual.

Your answer for #3 question is a bit confusing re: two choices. Did you mean yes for both options ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

oops. Sorry, nanouk. I'll edit the post. I meant "yes, the stone slab in front of the door". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ok, I have the photoshopped picture:

The white circles represent the 2 markers. I forgot which mission they are from. The one you see on the classroom rooftop is where you see it. The other one, below and left, is actually about 12-15 ft. above the courtyard. A jump from the rooftop will get it. I think Greypiffle on Tapestry posted a picture walkthrough on markers.

I did this from memory. The exact location may be different from the picture.

I did try to find "Tapestry" but did not come up with a result Would you be so kind as to give us a link ?

Hope it helps. Not sure where that walkthrough is.

EDIT: I couldn't get the links to conform to this forum page correctly. So you will have to copy & paste from the "http" up to, not including, the bracket.

Great work Urikrak. Thanks a lot.http://bestsmileys.com/waving/3.gif

BTW, Uru Obsession is sure a strange site. In the forum section we cannot get the full page (right side, upper login line) and you do not get a scroll bar at the bottom. I tried with max resolution at 1792X1344 and no go.

I just recently was able to do the jump and found that a good wireless optical mouse helps with speed and accelleration set on high. I've heard it can be done with ball mice but I was never successful at it. If you overcorrect you may find yourself falling through the opening in the classroom ceiling, but even that is exciting.
