I like it. The story line gets more personal instead of the normal "kill the terrorist" mentality. Hopefully Ubisoft pulls it off well.

Yeah, im liking this new plotline. A major difference of the usual things in the past 3 SCs. Im prolly looking forward to this one more than I was for the previous ones.

I am not sure.
What is SF without cool gadgets and sneaking to kill bad guys?
I like playing the hero more than playing the villain.

The story getting personal isn't a bad thing, but this whole situation they put Sam in ... well, I don't like it at all. But I'll wait for more infos before I start jumping to conclusions... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

In the event that Sam goes against the American Government (whether because he feels wronged, or goes mentally unstable with the death of his daughter, beit by accident or conspiracy if she finds out he his a Splinter Cell) then there's no going back.

Realistically, there's no feasible reason for the US government to accept Sam back into the fold. If I were Sam and I lost my daughter in a conspiracy by the government I was helping for my whole life, there'd be hell to pay.

Sam: I'm here to kill you, Lambert.

Lambert: Oh...my...

Sam: God... yeah, I know.. I've heard this one before.

Lambert: What's with the new haircut? You look like a chemo patient.

Sam: It's my impersonation of you, minus the 20 layers of fat.

Lambert: How are you going to kill me, Fisher?

Sam: I'm going to challenge you to a push-up contest. No... wait, scratch that. YOU'RE going to do my job for me.

*Lambert starts slowly moving to the doorway*

Sam: Beep.

Lambert: What?

*Lambert edges closer to the door*

Sam: Beep beep.

Lambert: What are you, the roadrunner?

*Sam ***** his head to the side and looks at Lambert with a evil smile, who then darts for the doorway, opening it to find a wall mine about to go off*

Sam: Beep beep boom.

I love it. Something new and fun to try. We've had three whole games of "uh oh, evil terrorist activity, send in sam!", its time for something a little more personal and story-based instead of the same-old same-old. Not that I don't love the old stuff, of course...

Makes me curious about multiplayer modes though. Will spies vs. mercs still have it's place, story-wise?

WHOO! Whichever way the story goes, you know there'll be drama, plot twists, and... plot twists galore! This is gonna be one VERY interesting game.

The story, so far, according to what I think, is that Third Echelon has uncovered an organization that must be stopped. Sam's crime spree is a ruse to land him in jail (very risky and unlikely, I know, but then again, we have 0 info on this game). While there, he meets whoever it was, Jamie Washinton or something, who is(or was) a part of said organization. Sam plays the ally, and gets inside the .org. When he's finally there, the game returns to the origional SC style.

Or something.

i have inside sources. the reason for sam's imprisonment is lude and indecent exposure. he dropped his pants in front of schoolboys. Becuase you see, Sam wants to be a Mam.

I'm not Patriotic and I'm not American. This story twist however, seems like a knee bent, the other way. Heck, an all new SplinterCell character would have been a better solution imho.

It would have been alot more credible if Sam went 'Displace' afterall, instead of jail bird jimmy.

For now, Ubi has lost my confidence.

Sarah got "killed" in a car crash, but driver was shots by a sniper bullet. to put Boyd *whos the car in jail its needed 800,000 $ to do it, so Sam robs banks pays for this and goes to revenge.
IN tje JAIL sam meets Boyd who is telling that he is SC himself, but got shot in the car crash. he tell sam that if sam doesnt believe him, then follow him. they make escape and they meet lambert in the carpark. Lambert tells Sam that his daughter were kidnapped by terrorist or soldiers or whatever to get sam.But Sam finds out that someone other knows too, so he goes with to terrorist cell, do few jobs with them and another day boyd in a SC suit comes to terrorist base and gives sam some High-tech equipment and tells he loves Sarah, so he want her out too. Well thats jsut only speculations and rumors made by me, but notice that JAIL was mentioned only in the beginning. Same story will be in this one. COMMON YOU MUCKERS!!!

For once, something NEW. And not a add to what we have seen before, not that i mind any of the addâ´s in the latest splinter cell http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I definitely don't expect much from Ubi, in terms of MP at least. SP...I'm iffy on... But I won't judge it til I play it.

SC4 will be a deal breaker for me. I'm using it to judge whether Ubi cares about the community, or it they're just in it to milk us for as much cha-ching as they can get.

Either way, I'm judging the game in it's entirity on how both SP and MP are collectively, since they actively take the route that they are releasing the game in a short amount of time; so I don't want to hear excuses if they game comes out buggy.

This is Ubi Montreal; so I have more faith than if it was the next "Craptastic" release from Shanghai.

What did UbiSoft Shanghai do to make Pandora Tomorrow "craptastic"? I thought PT was awesome....great storyline, improved graphics over the first game, and the introduction of the spy vs. mercs mode......thats not craptastic. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Great Storyline? Do I have to elaborate?
The game was basically an expansion pack, not a whole new game. Same gadgets, 1 or 2 new moves, and a new storyline.

Well, you can't deny the effort of Ubi Shanghai. I believe the storyline was wonderful.

Originally posted by samfisher734:

True, it may just be the same gadgets, and only a bit of new moves, but if you come to consider it, the storyline and impressive level design more than made up for it. (Just take Jakarta or LAX for example.)

A game is made up of many different aspects, and I think Pandora Tomorrow, though maybe lacking in the "drastic graphic improvement factor", made up for it with good, solid, gameplay. It was fluid, and the level designs were suitable.

The storyline was suitable of it's time. The issues of a biological weapon was very pressing around that time in our lives, and I think Ubi Shanghai hit it right on the spot.

This is a storyline which pushes you out of the gaming world and intrigues you to think that, maybe, this could be a very possible scenario happening in some shadowy country. The reality of it was what, for me, pulled me into the gameplay.

Ppl are too harsh on the Ubi Shanghai team.

The best levels of PT (Jerusalem, Jakarta, LA)
are imho still better in terms of leveldesign than most of CT's.

Well if there aint any Versus, Im not buying, Ill keep on playing Chaos Theory Versus.

Ubi got to realise that most of it's new Splinter Cell players bought the game only for Versus.

I myself didint play PT SP, and Well I played CT SP cause I had nothing else to do. Versus is way better anyways, cause you make your own Storyline.

Well now I keep on hoping Versus will be in this one !

splinter cell is without a doubt the best franchise that ubi has. now, having said that, splinter cell pandora tomorrow was without a doubt the worst game of the three. it did introduce a new mutiplayer sapect, but after playing through the game like 30 times and playing the multiplayer for even more, the storyline in the single player was... lacking, the gameplay was inbalanced, and truthfully, the graphics were worse than that of the first splinter cell. truthfull, the face, suit, guns, enemies, environments, and particles were all second class compared to the first one. the reason, believe it or not, was becasue another team developed the game. the montreal team gave birth to my uncle sam, and they should be the ones behind the games. chaos theory was without a doubt the best and splinter cell 1 was close behind it when you take time period of release into perspective. but still pandora tomorrow was good, just not as good. and 4 sounds interesting, but seeing as that no one knows anyhting about gameplay and story is just ambiguous at the moment, i truthfully have no idea. and thegraphics in the screens for 4 look really dated considering that 3 looked just about the same if not better. hopefully that is not running on 360, if it is, they have along road ahead of them.

Poor Sam doesn't look too hot in orange. O.o lol

Well I can't wait. I was never interested in the co-op modes anyways, the campaign mode and single player are all I was really gaming for. Co-op is fun, especiall in Chaos Theory, but...Man oh man I like single player. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just like it says, even with all the theorizing, "you have no idea what's coming...". Option 4 for me cause honestly, I don't see Ubisoft destroying Sam's character, then releasing a SC movie. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I think the plot looks intriguing thus far, and will prove to be worthy the wait, I'm sure.

On the multiplayer, I didn't do the online version, just split screen, so not sure what happened with it, but it sounds like they have some fixing to do..... hopefully those concerns were addressed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I always been a fan of the SC franchise. I'm only afraid Ubi is just for the money and releasing it too fast again. I mean SC3 has still big problems, Co-Op mode only works for 10% rest can't play. And the game has still a lot of bugs. Only the Versus mode seems to be ok (but has some bugs as well). But instead of fixing the SC3 product Ubi is pushing forward for a new SC4 and has started a marketing campaign already to hype the sh1t out of the game. I believe it's way too early to make people hot now and release SC4. Oh well let's hope they won't screw it again.

I think we won't see SC4 earlier than X-mas '06. Mark my words. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
