Screen went black/game crashes

I've just bought the game today. I pressed the New game and the cinematic scene from "Story so Far" plays smoothly and well but as soon as the loading load for the "Lost" chapter, the entire screen just went black and just nothing is on, I couldn't see anything or do anything...does anyone experience the same thing? Please help. Thanks.

Try to update your graphic and physx drivers.

And restart your pc.

Same here.
I got the same and also a BSOD with an "infinate loop error" with my Nvidia driver. I've updated graphics and motherboard drivers (in safe mode using driver cleaners ect) and still no luck. Interestingly, it will play ok in Multiplayer mode?
I'm just hoping that this can be patched to work soon.

I did try to update my drivers, and I also upaded my latest physx, but it still didn't work.

The technical guys at ubisoft detected that I had two graphic cards on, but I clearly only had one Geforce 8600 GT, in that case, do u know how to disable one card, or I have to uninstall my graphic card and install them again? I have one more question, I know probably think this is weird, but they also detected that I had multiple monitor but I clearly has one, I had a graphic card which supports mulitple screen, I usually default it to dualview, but I guess that doesn't help. I try not to twig and do anything with the settings much as I had bad experience before and it really mess up the monitor. If you have anything that can hint or help, please let me know, thanks so much.

If you have two graphic cards and monitors in your displayproperties then this is perfectly normal. Cause the second display connected two a "second" graphic card is your tv output.

Anyway the problem with a black screen, crashes, graphic glitches and so on is very often discussed in this and the gearbox forum.

There is no proper solution right now, as said before, update your drivers, update directx, lower the resolution ingame and then back again. Some say it helps to alt+tab out of the game and then back into it.

P.S. If you have two graphic cards in your device manager (control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager) then there could be something wrong, cause there should be only one 8600 gt.

Yeah, according to what you said, that's like it, maybe one for tv output. My directX is 9.0c, the latest apart from Dx10 which is for vista only. I run on XP. I did check my Device Manager, there's one graphic card only. Just in the control panel where it says graphic card, it says 1. plug to Geforce 8600GT, and then the drop down list has a 2. plug to Geforce 8600GT. So I think that's not a problem according to you. AlT+TAB doesn't help either, as I found from other discussion room, this may even cause crash, but it didn't stop me from trying, but it didn't help, because it wouldn't even skip out of the black screen and onto desktop let alone fix the problem. So if you have anymore info, please let me know. I just think Gearboxes have over done it this time, such a beautiful game, but killed a lot of reasonable machineand lots of fans' heart with this technical problems. Cheers.
