I hope this is better than the last lot of videos I saw.

On the bright side they did fix the conical aimpoint... but the view through it is now even weirder.

Can't seem to be able to find a Demo but I'll keep looking I guess... some other game to play while CoD4 comes out.

Yes you need to have hl2 installed.

I've been waiting for this mod for so long. It's about damn time.

You need (and I paraphrase here) any Source Engine'd game that includes the SDK.

I can't find a list of those and the link in the FAQ that is supposed to list those games takes me a to a blank page so...

http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=search&cc=...=&category=16&price= (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=search&cc=GB&term=&developer=&category=16&price=)

I think there are a number of games that aren't HL2 that would be acceptable.

Thread has more:
http://forums.insmod.net/index.php?showtopic=2345&hl=SDK

Alas a lot of it is "HURR USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!" and the link they post over and over doesn't work. So.

The developers of this mod do not seem to know what they want to do. Yesterday, it was a rollercoaster ride at their forums. Every hour was the same response "it'll be available in a few hours", then nothing comes. Supposedly, there was this nade bug they were trying to take care of. Then the official release was 4am pst. That has passed and still no mod.

I appreciate their work, but did they really have to do things at the last minute?

You'd rather them kick out products regardless of its state like Ubi?

I have heard nothing good about their Beta team and tester "hiring" policy.

Guess it's paying off for them now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No. But they got a lot of people's hopes up with false information, hence turning their forums into a bashfest similar to what used to go on here. They could have give out a simple message about the mod being delayed for a few more days due to issues being addressed. Instead, they are playing the teasing game. Like I said, there's really no point in doing things in the last minute when it could have been done before.

I would much rather have them delay it, until they get their minds together and announce a solid release date.

So has this thing been released or does anyone know what the release date is?

I've been checking on Steam to see if it's available but haven't been able to find it yet.

I´m on the insurgency dev irc just listening in. They´re still compiling the final product. Might take a little while longer. Then they will upload it to fileplanet (around 700mb). (upload might take appr. 2-3 hours they estimate)

BeCiDel

OK - Official word on irc is that they now have an .exe file that is being uploaded to fileplanet. Expect the mod released within the hour. (Their words)

I've got a question since I've never used a HL2 mod before and I'm curious about the term 'total conversion'.

Once installed can you turn mods on and off?

Can you switch from HL2 to mod and then back again? Or do you have to do an complete uninstall/reinstall of the game to be able to play HL2?

BeCiDel
07-02-2007, 01:17 PM
You just switch.

Anyone want to give their review on this game? I've read bad reviews on their official forums.

BeCiDel
07-02-2007, 05:58 PM
No review, but first impression - Buggy!
Good old grenade bugs, servercrashes, getting stuck bugs and so on. Didn´t seem very optimized either. Dropped down to 20 fps occasionally with low settings. In Vegas i might average 60-70 fps.

Hitting the sack as it´s 3am here in sweden.

First game i joined, I was stuck in my spawn ><. A map or something should be added, because you can get lost so easily. This mod need some modifications, but I think it a good start! The teamwork seem to be lacking, but I guess it normal in a public server....

Do you use SLI? I immediately thought to myself when I saw this that I'd have to make a duplicate profile for HL2 in nHancer and assign the Insurgency .exe to it in order to get full performance..

Not sure if this pertains to your situation..just adding my thoughts in general. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nope, not using SLI. Got dual Pentium D 3.6 processors though... With Dual core fixes installed. Gonna try to assign INS to only 1 core next time.
BTW running a 1900xt 512mb gpu.

On my favourite forums I am reading complaints about:
Bugs (ridiculous amounts), sound engineering, bugs, lag, bugs, gameplay, controls, bugs, maps, bugs.

Last two pages. Enough to convince me to wait a week or three before looking at this.

The game is nothing more than a poor mans GRAW 2. And as far as I could tell the score system doesn't even work properly and there's no way to tell your K/D ratio.

I really like the aspect of realism in this game. Sure it´s campier than most games, but the involvement/intenseness you feel on the battleground is awesome. I like the sounds a lot aswell (of big importance to me).

Bugs aside it´s a very nice mod. I think i´ll play it now & then for a long period of time.

Good point.

I played last night for just a bit.

Thought the sounds of the environment were very good. Gunshots in the distance had an eerie feel to them.

Movement wasn't my favorite and the recoil is something to get used to but... like the other guys said.... it's the first BETA release.

I'm looking forward to following the progress of this one.

I am having fun with the game, however, I am not sure how long that fun will last. There is a thread on the official forum with users complaining about server admins adding "headshot" voice effects from CounterStrike source and other things related.

I played this game after the patch and I really don't understand why anyone would fall in love with it.

-It's a Day of Defeat clone.

-Some of the maps are done poorly in terms of lighting and shadows.

-Visually...the soldiers look ugly. There are no tracers from the rifles, so it makes you look around in the dark areas trying to figure out whats going on.

-Weapon sounds are alright.

-Game runs smooth, but I would hope so since there isn't anything visually appealing to it.

-No sense of direction or help with it.

I played it for an hour and wasn't feeling anything. There really isn't anything special to it at all. And the "oh well its new/its beta" won't work here either.
