View Full Version : Was Rayman 3 good?

I keep hearing many ppl on Youtube say it sucks, and a little bit of ppl saying it was good.

But then again since there are to many Rayman fanboys here, I fear that all of you guys will exagerate the game and lie about it being good. -_-

*Sigh* Well whatever, go tell me the details about the game...

I thought it was OK.

The GBA version was better in my opnion.

I thought Gameplay wise it was really great and action packed, but there were certainly flaws. The story wasn't all that interesting, especially since it largely revolved around taking Globox to doctors.
As for the GBA version, I don't really see why Dark like it that much, it annoys the crap out of me.

It's one of my favourite games. The level design is great, and it has the best scoring system in a game ever.

It was a disappointment IMO, mainly due to the score system. Because it used to be a big internet thing back at the time, I felt pressured into getting as high a score as possible before leaving a level, and worst of all, it was cut short in favour of stupid minigames that do nothing for the main game.

The GBA one on the other hand was quite nice, it was like all 3 Rayman games [1-3] put together.

It was ok for me. But there was few things which were annoying like Ray's movements when you have to run from left to right during the fight. And the scenario was not that interesting to. Theres too much chaos about Globox. When I was palying I had a feeling that my main task is to cure Globox not to save the world. I hope that after those Rabbids Michael Ancel will create a good Rayman game with lot of action...So anyways, dont care much when somebody says that Ray 3 sucks couse everybody likes different things http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It's quite simply the best game ever. It's a true platformer and it has the best scoring system. Even after five years of playing, it is still possible to find new ways of combining point giving objects. How many games have that quality? Now, if only the good people behind Rayman would ditch the horrible Rabbids and make a true R4...

I played the GBA version of Hooldum's Revenge, it was kind of annoying. I beat it and I was hoping it to be 2D scroller, not some Sypro GBA rip-off, but whatever, the creators tried at least. I hope to play Hoodlum Havoc, but why do the trailers make it look a whole lot better than what people say?

Isometric Spyro came long after Sonic 3D and Super Mario RPG on the SNES.

I enjoyed it. The story was light and the game is short but it really is a good action-packed 7-8 hours that never died it stayed the same pace for the whole game. A must get if you are a fan of Rayman however if you are new to the franchise this game may not be the converter.

It's currently my favourite game, so I guess this gives an answer. Not only is it replayable, scenic and exciting, it's also really fun to play. TLOTLD is still one of my all time favourite levels I have ever seen in any game.

Remeber People, everyone has there Opinion for..whatever.

Mr.Dark: But Rayman 3 was mainly created for the ordinary Version on Game Cube, PC, and i think it was on the PS2 aswell.

Aeo: I thought the Rayman 3 plot was the best plot for any Rayman game. The gba plot seemed alot more Rayman 2 based.

MANDM: Hi, i've seen your combo videos on youtube. Very cleaver http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Rayman 3 is one of my Favourite games in the Rayman series and indead, one of the best i've ever played of all games i've played. Lol

I enjoy it. The plot isn't the best ( that position is for Rayman 2 for sure ) but it's okay. The art style was nice ( altough i prefer the Rayman 2 one ) The music was really nice to ( altough i prefer the Rayman 2 one http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif ) The game play is not that good, but oerall it's in good balance with the difficulty of the game.

I give it a 7.5/10 Nice game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I can actually understand why people don't enjoy it. Stacey is absolutely right in saying it's no fun if you're not going for a decent score. I recall playing TLOTLD for fun a couple of weeks ago; I was constantly distracted by the point-scoring side and didn't feel my end score was adequate to proceed. Despite this, I don't believe it's the score system that's responsible here - I believe it's the gems. Like any other game, I feel the need to collect everything possible for its highest value, and this just is not possible in R3 if you aren't playing for a top score.

Still, I'd highly recommend playing for a good score as the feeling after accomplishing a difficult combo is glorious and outweighs the trying necessary to achieve such a high aimed goal

aeojrtfao
10-30-2008, 11:23 PM
Well, when I play, I don't ususally bother with scoring (until recently), so I've never had that problem.
@Mr Dark: I agree with you also in terms of story, but it's the gameplay and aesthetic aspects of the game that I enjoy.

Mr.Dark

The only faults I found about the gameplay was how there weren't any checkpoints, moving Rayman slightly on a small platform is pretty tough (same problem R2 has.), and the part where you fly up on the broken-floaty pieces of ground while trying to reach Refluxs' head during one of the phases of the final boss is hard because there's a glitch of where the floating pieces of ground disappear in thin air without any warning.

10-31-2008, 01:54 PM
Well, the floating pieces that disappear are a part of the challenge...

A sound affect, or maybe showing them crumble up and falling as dust really fast would of been nice.

There are checkpoints actually, loads of them. Each world is broken down into several parts. If I were playing for fun, I'd say there's too many checkpoints, but scorewise the challenge is perfect.

It truly is. I often replay that particular level because of it's scenery. Same goes for the Land of the Livid Dead and Bog of Murk. It goes for a lot of the levels, actually.

Well, the first thing I have to say was that the humor was great... I even consider it funnier than Raving Rabbids...

The gameplay was fine, if you ask me... the controls were solid, it had a neat combat system, and lots of secrets too... trying to get 100% on a level is really fun...

I thought it was a great game... with it's light-hearted plot, cartoonish combat system, and lots of humor, I enjoy playing this game when I am sick of all the serious stuff going on in the real world http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm gonna be honest here though, I actually prefer Rayman 3 over Rayman 2... but I prefer Rayman 1 over both of them... most people will disagree with me on that, but that is my personal opinion :P

Oh my gosh! Are you kidding me? Rayman 3 was the best game ever. Better than mario, better than donkey kong, and even alot more funnier than boring old zelda. Rayman had humour, good graphics(3-D), a cool music slide with 70s songs, cool new gadgets, and super hard bosses. The gameplay even included a hall of fame, and it was simply the best rayman game ever. I loved it. The Rabbid Rabbits, has no rayman in it anywhere. I'm dissapointed in you ubi soft. Continue making games like the 3rd one, and dont stop. It was great and earned our whole family a A+ and its great that it had sids voice from ice age on it. Cool game, great ending. Thank you.

IGN says it was too short, it trys to keep up with times using slang weird words, and it sold less than Rayman 1 and 2. I do agree with all they're saying, but it looks overall fun. The powers look kind of weird, though. Why do you change colors? Red, Blue, etc. His original orange look looks best.

But Frankly from I see it, your over rating the game quite a lot, no offense. It obviously wasn't THAT good, or else everyone would have known about it. I also would have owned it a long time ago seeing how good it was. Another thing is that it would have won a lot of awards, and they've would have shown it at least once in Best Games of 04/05, or IGN, Nintendo Power, or Game Informer... -_-

What are you talking about? Raving Rabbids is a fun game. Just because it's not adventure doesn't mean it sucks. It got 4th place in Game Informer for best multiplayer game. Halo got 6th place, Mario Party got 2nd place, and in first place was Rock Band. Yeah Rock Band, weird huh?

It wasn't THAT amazingly fabulously awesome, no, but I consider it a great game nonetheless. And always have done since 2004. I wonder what's wrong with those powerups? They were new, original, inventive, and their costumes looked very decent indeed. The score system, I'll have to admit, did ruin it for me (at the time) because I felt the need to get a certain amount of points before proceeding, but still. Generally I'm very happy with it.

While I don't find Rayman 3 as incredible as Rayman 1 or 2, I still love this game. The whole wacky, comedic style really appeals to me. The Hoodlums were awesome, Raymany enemies that were pretty amusing. The worlds, as always, were well-designed. The can concept worked really well, and controlling Rayman feels really fluent and easy, not to mention his new look in the game is real awesome. The music wasn't as good as in the previous two games, but it was still impressive. The score system was okay, but it doesn't really appeal to me that much.

Rayman 3 was very good - good graphic, funny text and Groove Armada "Madder" in trailer http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But this game is short + points with Combo, what didn't work all time very good. Sometimes Combo works long time, sometimes short time.

But I can't decide what was the best Rayman - Rayman 2/Rayman Revolution or Rayman 3 xP

I hated the funny face in R3. You went throught that big impressive cinematic about getting some super cool power from the Leptys, and what is it? THE POWER TO PULL FUNNY FACES!!! What a let-down...

Hmm...
I will compare the 4 Major Rayman games

Rayman - Awesome, BUT REALLY FRUSTRATING!

Rayman 2 - You can Finally helicopter forever! and 3D! but some stuff is 2d when it should be 3d. xtremely fun though!

Rayman 3 - Pretty much the same as Rayman 2, except very slightly less fun. but better graphics

Rayman Raving Rabids - Boring minigames. Music is less epic than ever before. Set on Earth, not some awesome magical universe, hence it looks terrible. Gameplay is Horrid.

You can make your own desision, this is just my opinion

It's worth noting though that R3 is a more more action-packed game than the previous 2. It focuses more on action than adventure, with much more battling and stuff. This can be better or worse depending on preference.

We must tell true - in Rayman 2 graphic was as from fantastic world etc. In Rayman 3 graphic is only "new" for these time. Worlds didn't be wonderful as in Rayman 2, and I never scared Knaarens, but Rayman 3 is good game as Rayman 2.
