how do I get planes to attack kamikaze style? I've tried just setting them to fly low enough to hit the target, i've tried setting a ground attack waypoint, then setting them low enough to hit the target, to no avail so far. Any ideas?

Untick "Parachute" for that plane in FMB. Usually works

Make two waypoints. A start point (can be air or runway) and a ground attack. More than two works fine, too.
The trick is that the last waypoint must be a ground attack waypoint.
Click "Set" to set target, and then target the final of the target ship's two waypoints.
Make sure that you put the ground attack waypoint close to but not over the target ship. That is to say where it will be when the plane gets there, of course. Close enough so the airplane knows where the target is, but far enough away that it can dive in, and doesn't have to circle a shooting target.
Unticking "Paracute" for these aircraft is useful for more realistic behavior in that the pilots will not attempt to bail out if they get shot down. This is more realistic because Kamikaze pilots, in addition to not having parachutes, literally had the canopies of their airplanes wired shut. They couldn't get out if they'd wanted to.
You can do single aircraft, or flights. Kamikaze wingmen will follow their leader just like regular wingmen.
During a quick test, it did not seem to work for heavy bombers. Dive and torpedo bombers, as well as fighters, work fine.

Err, not too sure about that one.
Years ago I used to read about Kamikaze aircraft having their canopies locked shut but I believe this has been debunked. After all, there was no shortage of volunteers for this duty.

lol... picture that... fuel loaded, explosives loaded, pilot takes his seat, and then ... what suicidal fool would start welding the cockpit shut?
I mean 'welding'! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
