For some reason I cant get the first level to end. I swam into the crack in the carrior, heard the grenade drop, but I survived. The level Just wont end! What do I need to do to fix this, I installed the 1.3 patch and upgraded my video card drives BTW.

Super Newbie here, But I am ahead of you!
The level does not end when you enter the carrier hole... You get frag'ed, but it continues... Move around to the ladder, then up.
At the top, wait for the two "talkers"
(Talking Sentries) to go by...then keep going.
The level is not done until you clear the carrier spaces and the deck, (Take out the minigun early) go aft, secure the
raft, (drop it into the water), and follow the instructions given at that point.
(Head East I think..)
