WOW that's AMAZING! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif It felt like 10 minutes, I was so sucked into it. I wish it wouldn't have ended.. I had this tense feeling throughout almost the whole movie. I would have liked some more aggro/smoke/chaff/flash action though, but whatever, great work, pretend3r (& other ppl involved).

Guys, there is also a FILEPLANET mirror... I had used 4 GB before we released it, now it's near 20 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif I'll set my limit for today to 25. Then each day gets 5 GB. So it's first come, first serve on a 5GB/day (I think... max will be still at 60-70).

Very nicely done. A couple of the lines, mostly the ones using the f-word, felt unnatural, but it was very entertaining.

Yes. It was good. But the voices were quite weak, especially the voices of the Spies. Some of the lines could have been better too. Also, there was a bit too much pausing in between each line of converssation.

But still, very good for a user made project.

Fantastic video overall, I can tell a TON of work went into it, LOVED the part where the merc is looking out the window, was chuckling for the rest of the film.

One thing I didnt like was the Spy's voice acting, the voice itself seemed odd for a spy and some of the lines were weak.

"Thanks stranger, you just helped me."

But thats minor nitpicking, fantastic work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks alot. Srry about some dialogue being weak.

But i found it really hard to make up all the dialogue. As for the voices i agree that some sound unnatural, but its still a fan project, didnt had so much choice in voice actors. But it turned out good enough.

This is also the first I attempted to make a movie with acting and all. For a first time movie, im glad with the result, and reading your reactions, so are you.

That was fantastic! It really exceeded my expectations. It's really amazing what you could do with limitations of SvM and turn it into really lively and exciting real movie like experience. And boy, you took all out of Club House. I can see ALOT of time, effort and thinking went into this, but I'm sure it was worth it. Dialogue, footage, editing, action, everything worked out so great. And big praise for the sounds, they had balls. Jeez if we had sounds like those in our uzies and nades. Anyways, thanks and respect for the whole team who was involved with doing this.

I was hardly able to keep watching it through entirely. The voice acting made me cringe and the dialoge script was nearly worse. The third peeve was the "Im talking so Im going to look like Im having a seizure" when the mercs talked.

The saving grace of the entire film was the fact that you could tell work and dedication was put into the movie. The directing and effort that was used was very well done.

scworld
08-07-2005, 11:39 AM
If you know a better way to make the Mercs 'talk', please tell me.
If you want to give Pretend3r money to hire some professionals for the dialogue and voice acting, contact him.

Guys, this is all a FAN-movie. If we use your voices it wouldnt sound any better (unless you're a professional voice actor or a real talent). Voices were not recorded on the spot, so it's hard for the actors to really sound angry etc.

[/rant against too big ego's]

Niuges
08-07-2005, 12:02 PM
If it was real life, the merc would be just standing there looking at the other merc while talking, not moving around. The better way to show that its the merc talking is just to have the camera focus on them while they talk. Make it obvious that its that merc talking.

The voice acting could be improved if the actors actually acted out the scene in their minds and got into the moment. The monotone voices with sprinkled false excitement was horrible.

I understand its a "FAN-movie" and a lot of dedication and hard work was put into it, but that extra mile would have made it a movie worth watching more than once.

S.a.S-Akbari
08-07-2005, 12:07 PM
This isnt Real life, afcorse a guard would shoot if his friends get snapped, however, this is when we talk Real life, and this is a game, a movie, if he wanted to base it on Real life, it was : Movie start, mercs around around, see spy, *shoots* , dead spy, end movie - a good full 2 mins, how ever if u stall it with things like that , makes it much more worth watching ^^ (and last longer) - Enojoyed everybit

scworld
08-07-2005, 12:44 PM
Focussing on a talking merc?
That means the same little amount of movement if he talks or pauses/is quiet?

This was, according to Pretend3r, the best way. He chose the voice-overs, but you are free to sign up for his next thing.

it was good, not great tho. voice acting was ok but i was really set off by some of the heavy accents and unenthusiastic speech. the spy voice was just meh. 7/10. great idea but could've been executed a tad better. i loved the part where the spy pulls the merc over the rail and says "I'm right here... Decent. The voice acting needed more enthusiasm, it sounded too unrealistic. The cussing didn't flow at all with the situation and felt like it was there just to...be there. The head bobbing while talking was way too much. The walking with the wood 'clomping' didn't sync with their footsteps and was too much. The voice acting didn't really suit the characters, needed more of a bold military voice. The comedy wasn't too great either. Less talk more action. The part where the merc charges the spy at about 20 min in the movie. I don't think a mercenary would watch the spy come to his feet and watch him run away. Hopefully this is just a rough draft of better movies yet to come.

Well, just remember that this isn't Hollywood (thank god) and with these things you have to make the best of something with what you have. I thought the whole tie-in with the 'investigation' was an interesting angle and was a creative and unique way to tell the story. Overall good job, just a couple nit-picky things. =)

No offense, but i thought it was pretty bad. 5/10. Voice acting was unenthusiastic. Beginning of movie was monotonous. Script & dialogue are poorly crafted - and the camera angles are a mess. Try watching some good hollywood films and focus on the camera angles - you don't have the camera zooming in on a guy's face when he talks. Camera views change ALOT, all the time, whilst people are moving, talking etc.
I woulda rated it lower if i knew that it's a first attempt and it took quite alot of work. Nevertheless, we are all very appreciative at your effort. Better luck with the sequel!

scworld
08-09-2005, 07:32 AM
Why do people all the time point to Hollywood with actors that 'learned' for it, make millions of dollars, got the most expensive effects, specialized people, props, and 1.5-3 years till release... this was a little bit more than 1 month work, but I am not sure about that.

I also agree about some of the voices, but in the crew-release it was worse. I'm also getting some ideas for Preten3r, so he can work it out.

Spekkio9
08-09-2005, 09:20 AM
I didn't harp on the voice acting so much as the forced, unnatural swearing, which has to do with the script more than anything else. Yeah, the voice overs could've sounded a little more natural, but that comes from internalizing the lines and not reading them word for word, which I don't think anyone did.

I actually like that you guys went the boondock saints route, it was interesting to see the SvM movie done that way, plus I love that movie myself. I was just being picky and pointing out to Raisin where the ideas came from, cuz I'm a pain in the **** like that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif.

Awesome effort! Storyline was a bit dry to me. I didn't like the whole thing being done in spy cam. I thought the BF2 music was cheesy. But these are only my humble opinions, which don't hold much water since I couldn't have done a better job.

I give it a 5 out of 10

Not bad. I can tell you guys put allot of effort into it. The main thing that was lacking I think was the voice acting. Very weak IMO. In particular the main spy character. Maybe next time you should cast certain people to get the quality you deserve for such an awesome movie, film wise.

You guys did a really good job with this movie!
I seriously enjoyed every bit of it, poping a coke, eating popcorn and chocolate.
This is how SvM really is, cuz when you play it the mercs are actually looking for you and these guys are just guarding the place.

Great job! Two big fat thumbs full of sticky chocolate and stuff up!
Thanks alot!
