Apparently yesterday around noon (March 20 at 12:33 in the UK) our Spring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernal_equinox) began! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

I wonder if the eggs that failed where taken by the Easter Hares http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

The Spring Equinox is also known as:
Alban Eilir, Eostar, Eostre, Feast of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Festival of Trees, Lady Day, NawRuz, No Ruz, Ostara, Ostra, Rites of Spring, and the Vernal Equinox..... or just LENTE in Dutch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anyway, this feels good again!

The Dutch are so laid-back! Only they could call their Spring equinox "slowly"! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Happy Spring! Crocuses are blooming! (I almost said "croaking," but they won't be doing that for a few weeks yet. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif )

happy lente! The word Lente has to do with the lenghtening of the days.
But I indeed laid back today, enjoying a warm sun on the balcony. And also feeling my stomach telling me about an english cousin of the word "Lente": "Lent", the time before Easter, when some Christians refrain from eating much. Not that I'm following this tradition very strickt , I just have to lose some kilos.

Today the Dutch TV 8 o'clock news already caught one tulip in the "keukenhof" (http://www.keukenhof.nl/) showing shyly the colours of her heart!

PS Language selection at bottom of keukenhof web page.

Can't you warble or just twitter with some chirp and chatter?
I heard them all do it this morning.

Nobody will be offended if you do so now!

Get my earplugs? There are some turns of wire, a magnet and a membrane in them. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Ah Spring....

You forgot one defitinion FP: Maple Sugar Season! "Sugarin Season"

A good maple season has warm days, but nights below freezing. As long as the temperatures are in a certain range (below 5C or 40F for the day) the maple sap is flowing!

Time for all to visit the Cabane à sucre!!

Watches some little faerie-type skipping around in the meadow, sprinkling flowers everywhere.

Yay! Spring! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

We just had another snowstorm! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

And to bust the age-old myth, or part myth...the idea of balancing eggs only on Spring equinox. It is possible...but you can do it any day of the year!

Speedy, I love to hear your little friends singing. I will leave my windows open when it gets warm to hear them.

Those are the talented ones. The only relatives of mine that sing are the ones who are allowed to: basically, they need to pass a certain course in natural singing and melodies in order to get the degree in 'Musical Twiderpating' and go out into the world and sing. Alas, there were early indications in my birdhood that I would not be a twiderpater. Instead, my talents resided more in housekeeping and such... traditional avians with this degree go into bird housings, but I decided to step out of the mold and get into hotel development. And I've been successful so far! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Ahh!!!!! I love the smell of the flowers... crocuses are already in bloom and the daffodils aren't that far behind them... I think I saw some tulips popping up too somewhere.
