Game can't start

I am trying to get an answer as to why I can get this game going. I am getting a “Game won’t start you are missing d3dx9_42.dll file on your computer”. Try reinstalling the game to resolve this issue. Installed and reinstalled game three times but same issue. The check configure screen show everything is ok.
It looks like a video issue but I am not sure.
I have Intel I7, 6 gm memory, Evga Gtx 260 video card.

Try running dxdiag or reinstalling DirectX10

Windows 7 comes with Directx 11. I don't think it is possible to revert to an earlier version of Directx. Have searched everywhere for an answer.
This game is supposed to be good under Windows 7. Hopefully there is another answer. Thank you for your answer anyway. It was appreciated.

Windows 7 is not the other versions of Windows. I can't seem to find the folder where directx is located. Thank you for the link. Oddly enough I have those files in a winrar archive from when I tried to reinstall Directx. Thanks for your post.

You should just be able to put that .dll into the games directory.

Thank you guys. Up and Running. I placed the files in the Silent Hunter Folder got other error messages but go through them. Thanks for all your help. I would have responded sooner but hard to get on servers. Thanks again.
