I recently bought BIA. I stick it in my dvd-rom drive and nothing happens. Go to my computer and click on the dvd-drives says insert cd into drive or whatever. So i figure my comp is just stupid. So i go to my other comp, insert dvd, same thing. So i take it back to store and get a new cd. Stick it in, same thing. I just updated my nvidia driver, same thing.
I'm using a AMD Athlon XP 2400 with 2.00 GHz and 512 RAM with a GeForce FX 5600 .
What the heck do i do?

I had same prob this is an email I recieved from tech help
I suggest U call them with your prob
again this is what I recieved...
You can most likely resolve this issue by updating the firmware on your DVD-ROM drive from the manufacturers web site. If your drive manufacturer does not have drivers available, you may be able to find an update for your drive from http://www.allfirmwares.com.
Also, uninstall (or disable) any CD emulation software you may have installed such as Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, Nero, etc. If you have CloneCD you need to turn off the Hide CDR media setting. This setting is accessible from the task tray icon for clone CD. Right-click on the icon and uncheck Hide CDR media. However, the best course of action is to uninstall any of these programs.
While there is no 100% cause or solution for this problem, there are several things that you can do to avoid it:
1. Make sure your DVD-ROM drive is using the latest available drivers and is still supported by the drive Manufacturer. If the DVD-ROM drive is no longer supported, this is a good indication that the DVD-ROM drive is old or outdated and you should consider upgrading.
2. In less than 1% of these cases, the DVD may be bad or damaged. You could run scandisk, or some other disk integrity checking software, on the DVD to check for bad sectors. If you find that your disk is bad, you should return it to the place of purchase for another disk of the same game. Please see our return/exchange policy in our FAQ.
3. Certain DVD-ROM (DVD-RW / DVD+CD-RW) brands use proprietary methods to read DVD-ROMs that can cause problems with some games. This is a common problem throughout the gaming industry. We have noticed problems with certain LightOn DVD-ROM drives, among others reported by other game companies. If you have tried the above methods and are still experiencing problems, you should consider installing the game using another DVD drive (any non-RW drive), possibly on another machine.
If you continue to have trouble, try the following:
Change the DMA setting on the CD-ROM drive
1) Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2) Click the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
3) Go down the list and find IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4) Double-click on Primary IDE Channel.
5) Click the Advanced Settings tab.
6) From the Transfer Mode drop down menu, select DMA if available and click OK.
7) Repeat steps 4-6 for the Secondary IDE Channel.

If you access the dvd through explorer (file manager) you can try copying it over to your hard drive and installing from there.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem!!
I bought the game but my cd-rom or dvd driver wouldt recognise the cd.
I tried it on an other sytem but it wouldnt work there either.
So i went to the store and received a new copy. The exact thing happened again on 2 different cd rom drivers. I tried the updating cd rom thing but it still wont work.
So i went back to the store again, but this time the guy tried it on 1 of their pc's and it worked fine. He wouldnt hand me another copy....
Other cd's and dvd's run just fine so im out of ideas and 44 euros lighter...
Its like the CD is just not compatible with some cd rom and dvd stations, i cant imagine it having to do with anything else on these systems

well, I hope the Dev can patch this up because this problem is universal. do what I did call tech help and start asking for answers ie. patch.
by the way my game won't play again I developed the same error. I installed it ok worked fine. later that evening snap cant find cd/dvd. Called tech they emailed me what 2 do list. did what I could. I thought it would be a file to place in folder. I'm computer challenged. somehow the game took, IT WORKED after playing with settings!! a day of bliss!!
and now today...
the game won't work!!!
same error
I removed game and all savegames, I made it to day 3. gone. after reinstalled nope sorry cant find cd/dvd. patched it up with 1.02( or whatever) still nothing.
if the game works one min and not a min after what do ya do?
I love the program but the snags are making everyones peoples blood pressure to go through the roof. this issue must be addressed. so again call tech support and rag on them till they fix it!
I will.

I had the same problem my DVD player could not find the Brother in Arms disk, My Computer is a E-Machine W4065 upgraded with a 1Gig of memory, and a G-Force 5200 128 Meg Video card. To make sure did not have a bad Disk I tried to install it on my Old PC a HP PII 300 with a 2 Speed DVD Player. It loaded the DVD and brought up the Install screen so I knew the Disk was OK So I called Ubisoft tech Support and they told me to up date the firmware for the DVD Player. So I did and my DVD player found it and loaded it with no Problems.

I can't believe it! They actually expect you to modify your computer to get the game to work?!!!
I too get the message unable to find CDROM.
I plan to return the game tomorrow. I refuse to pay for shoddy programming.
Ubisoft pissed me off screwing with Ghost Recon sequel. I guess it's time to boycott the develeoper till they get their act together.

Negative. The program appeared to install fine. I even registered it. I hit the start up icon or directly from the DVD I hit play and it cannot find the CDROM! The wrong drive is accessed. I have even tried the copy DVD to Harddrive routine, same error message.

Man, I have not even received the game yet even though I pre-ordered it over a month ago from the UBI store, and it showed it shipped on the 15th with two day Fedex. I also have to go out and buy a new DVD drive to play it?
With all the nighmares I have been reading, think I might just get a credit and wait for DOD Source.
If it comes down to loading four or five cd's or trash my system with one,,,,please.

Most likely its the copy protection f-ing everything up. I dont think its safedisc 2 that does this.

What else did you expect ?
This isn't a console.
To play any game nowadays you've got to find the right set of drivers and settings for the bios.
They even want you to uninstall software you'd need to use the DVD-RW and/or CD-RW-drives you happen to have installed.
Reason ?
The 'copy-protection' used by Ubisoft is very picky about the combination of hardware & software you want to use to play the game.
You've basically got 2 choices if that's too much to handle :
- get a console
or
- find and download the warez-version

Anyone know where I can download an image for a basic boot disk that will work on NTFS filesystems or something I can burn to CD? I seem to remember that a Win2k/XP boot disk requires 4 floppies.... all just so I can try to update some DVDrom firmware.
PS: Could it be something stupid like they expect your DVD-rom drive to be D:? I have multiple HDDs in my system so my DVD drive is F:
