Hi,
I have just bought a new computer and far cry but can't get it working properly.
I have a
256mb ati radeon x800 xt (called x800 pro in the control center)
CPU is AMD 64 3500+
1024mb of ddr memory

Surely these specs can run the game at full quality? when i auto detect in the advanced visuals options it sets everything to low, if i set it to high the graphics don't work properly (sea glitches sky and ground become muddled etc. What is going on? I feel it must be simple but I cant work it out......please help asap because I really want to play the game but want to see it as it was meant to be xxx

If your control center says x800 pro then it must be a pro and not an XT.

Did you install the game patch? You need 1.2 to make your x800 work properly. Don't use the auto detect. It does not work properly for systems that were released after the game was.

What kind of new computer? Did you build it, or buy a brand. If you
bought a brand, download a copy of 3DMark2001 and install and run the
benchmark. If your system fails during that benchmark, take the
computer back to the vendor and tell him to fix it. If this is a self-
built system, run 3DMark2001, and then post back here under a new post.
Tell us what it did. Note: you are going to get a lot of advice about
power supplies, heat, fans, drivers, on and on. More than likely none
of those things is the problem. Most likely, you have a bad motherbd,
and you wil need to RMA it back and tell the vendor the problem.
Hopefully you bought from a reputable vendor ( if there is such a thing ).
