Can't start a co-op xbox live party session?

I'm having the weirdest problem. I can't get the co-op going on xbox live with a friend. The public match works fine, but when I get to the screen that says "select player in your party" and my friends name and info is in the green bar. I hit select and it just brings up the profile screen for him, and "invite to game is greyed out. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

This is just from my knowledge of the forums cos I haven't got the game yet but I remember it saying that you have to go into a private match then invite your friend?

Yeah. You have to specify private match (I forgot what button to press, but if you pick the last Co-op and Multiplayer option, the button is at the bottom of the screen).

I've spent the majority of my time playing co-op, haven't had any problems with it starting up at all.

Once you are in your party, just load to the main menu and choose COOP & Multiplayer/Xbox Live Player Match and on the matchmaking screen press "Y" for a private match. Normally on this screen in the bottom left corner you would have an option to "Invite Friend". However, if you are in a Party you will see the option to "Invite Xbox Live Party" by pressing the Y button
