Game stuttering

Hi there guys.
I have search the forum for the answer but most of them seem to be for the PC version.
I just bought RSV2 and was really looking forward to playing it when I came across (in the first scene) some stuttering. The game would repeat itself for about 2-3 seconds both sound and picture. I thought it would be just a one off but it happens every 30 seconds when I am moving. If I am standing still then no stuttering.
I have a 120gig slim that was bought last December. I have about 15 games (Most new and some 2nd hand)and this is the only time it has happened to me. RSV2 is second hand from a friend and has no scratches on it.
I have deleted the game data, reformatted the PS3 both quick and long versions but still not working.

any ideas why this my be happening?

It sounds like a graphics problem and possibly heat related.
PS3 get pretty hot!

It also could be a something with your Blu ray player, or even your hard drive.
Can you see if your system is trying to read from either of these when the stuttering happens?

Does this happen with only V2 or other games also?

IF it is heat realated, maybe try putting a fan on it and see if cooling it down somewhat will help.

I don't use my PS3 much, but have rigged up 80mm PC fans in the past with a 12 volt power supply and have had decent luck with that.

I have tried some of the third party fans that attach to the PS3 but haven't had much luck with them and they are very noisy.
