How long before firing after getting a solution?

In an automatic mode, how long can I wait before firing a torp if the weapons officer has obtained a solution. Do I need to fire immediately, please help. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

In auto aiming mode you don't have to ask your weapons officer for a solution. A correct solution will always be made when you target a ship and it will update itself on its own. So you can fire whenever you want but you can open the tubes manually with "q" to shoot more quickly.

Thanks a lot for clarifying this. On that thought, is the weapons officer a median alternative between auto and manual targeting?

If you make sure to open the doors to the torpedo tubes first the torpedos seem to get away faster.

I'm having problems knowing when the torp doors are opened or closed. Help?

Also, is the game modelled so that torp doors open makes my sub louder?
