What? Well, I preordered SH3 already but thats what I call a good copy-protection. Somehow I miss the times where a good simulation comes with a good fat manual http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, I prefer a good box with a ringbinder manual over a jewelcase with a print-it-if-you-like.pdf but thats another story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

thanks for the link to the review...

Who cares about DW when we3 are so close to sh-3?

Speak for yourself.

DW is a great game.

Are you still gonna feel the same when you find out that SHIII is limited to 1024x768?

DW is only a great simulation. No great graphics when it should have in this age of great and life-like graphics. I would buy it if it had better graphics.

And of course I'll feel the same even if SH3 is only limited to 1024x768, for sure. 1024 is excellent for me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Great graphics are not very important in a game like DW. It is designed to be, as you said, a simulation. And in all actuality, the graphics are pretty good.

That review hurt the game's prestige alot. I feel sad for Sonalysts. I recently downloaded the demo and i am addicted to it. It is the closest thing i have to SHIII. I am also really bad at it. I do think that the game is kinda drab with the flat textures and simplicit interface (not the simplistic like easy but like boring) and the horrible damage system, almost identical to SHII were you could count the torpedoes until the target was destroyed. SHIII does in fact look better then wat Dangerous Waters is, but Dangerous Waters still lives up to wat a sim should: Accurate, fun gaming.

Anyone interested in quality submarine games for a start. Its not as if the genre is exactly crowded.

There are huge differences in the equipment, tactics and techniques between the two eras (and don't forget DW has a missile frigate and aircraft to command too). Anyone who won't have both is seriously missing out, IMHO - I know DW is a superb game, and I'm sure SH3 will be too.

I never said that DW sucked? I played the demo and i loved it! but its sh-3 i have sleepness nights about!!

Do you think most people give a **** about sh-3 being only available in 1024x768 ??
I for one dont see t that as a reason not to buy it!
However i do feel sorry for the ones that cannot enjoy sh-3 for this sole reason!

It seems appropriate to post a link TO the SUBSIM REVIEW (http://www.subsim.com/ssr/dangerous_waters/dangwater_review_page1.htm) at this point.

97%.

I think DW is a terrific game, but that's a tad high to account for what are undoubtably a few rough edges, while IMHO the simHQ review puts far too much emphasis on a couple of points that don't really affect things that much. As usual, the "truth", as far as there is one, is probably somewhere in the middle.

Fortunately, the DW demo is excellent and accurately reflects the game (as far as a demo can), so there's no need to rely on anybody's opinion except your own.

Agree, DW is a great game, but is very different. Some people will not enjoy it as well. But I'll love both games. Still playing Sub Command, Silent Hunter and Ace of Deeps (and, from time to time, Silent Service 2).
