hi everyone, i'm new to the forums here. hope to get a lot out of SH4 and learn a lot about it here. now i just got the game this weekend and have been experiencing a lot of performance problems. i checked with the system requirements on the box and everything seems decent but i still can't seem to play the game nicely. i am running it only on 1024X768 so it shouldn't be that demanding. here are my specs:

Emachines T3092
AMD Athlon 3000+ Socket A 2.2GHz
1.5GB PC2700 RAM 333MHz
EVGA 6800 OC'D AGP8X 380Mhz core/ 810MHz memory

if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know! i really want to play SH4 at a acceptable level. right now, it's lagging quite a bit, even though i have only 3 of those graphics options checked off. i would greatly appreciate all of your help! THANKS!

Welcome to the forums http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In my opinion your PC is a little under-powered to run SH4 smoothly, even with some graphic settings off.

My system *just about* runs SH4 comfortably, but still slows down occasionally:

Athlon 64 3700+
1.5GB of PC3200 RAM
Nvidia 7600GT (overclocked)

I am able to run the game at 1280x1024 resolution, with 4x Anti-aliasing and 4x Anisotropic Filtering (set in my nVidia driver, not in SH4).

I think my main problem is that SH4 ideally needs more RAM than I've got - at least 2GB in total. Maybe you could try getting more RAM to see if it helps your performance (it would be the cheapest way to make a difference)

Have you tried running this test?

No problem http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For the benefit of other people with the same problem who may read this thread, what spec are you going to upgrade to?

I actually think you'll be able to run this game OK, but probably in a 1024x768 window. Get a better video card (and probably a matching power supply) and you will do better.

I give my basic specs here, including experience with a 6600 card: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6921019045/m/1131064445

i am not sure, but perhaps a X1950Pro or 7800GS, depend on the price. btw, what do you guys think? would it make a huge difference over my 6800? the 7800GS is cheaper than the 1950Pro, but i don't know if it's good enough to make a huge difference.

So far, SH4 1.02 seems to run pretty well on my current rig (as does SH3 with GWX 1.03):
AMD Athlon XP2500+
1.5 GB DDR-400
Albatron KX600 Pro MB.
80GB HDD.
FX6200 vid card.
OS Windows 2000 Pro + SP4.
