Just starting some discussion for all the users on this forum who snowboard. go ahead and post your setup for the upcoming season, whether it be what you got or a "fantasy setup." I know mine is gonna be -

08 Lib Tech Travis Rice
09 Ride Delta binders
09 32 Lashed

Already got some of the stuff, waiting for some sales to pop up at the local shops before I finish off my buying. Still waiting to see all the outerwear collections to see what I'm getting in that category.

c60s are over rated. all ov burtons stuff is way over priced. theres equal or better stuff out there for less money

I feel the same way, with Burton your buying the name. I'v ridden boards, boots, and bindings from Burton and nothing impressed me. But hey I'v got plenty of friends who ride Burton religiously and love their stuff...its all opinion.

07-30-2008, 01:32 PM
I liked the p1's cause it was so easy to strap in with the pull thingy. I dunno about c60's thats why I said they were pricey I might get some rome sds's, or whatever maybe just another pair of p1's

jtsang93
07-30-2008, 01:35 PM
and yeah I hate Burton boards the most, I find them too stiff and also over priced. If you guys know boardzone, I bought it through the states and it was really cheap burton customs were only like 60 bucks, and p1's were only like 100 or 110 thats why I bought em.

Frozen_Nature1
07-30-2008, 02:17 PM
yeah boardzone is the only descent shop that ships to canada so i use that the most.

jtsang93
08-01-2008, 12:16 AM
the american site is gone.. they were probably losing too much money hahaa. Are you canadian Frozen? From where?

KaceS2K
08-01-2008, 10:35 AM
FYI guys, Boardzone is no longer a retail outlet. The name and site was purchased by West 49.

Boardzone retail outlets are now called Sanction Snow - http://sanctionsnow.com

I am in Canada and have purchased the majority of my gear from US sites and still saved money. DJ's Boardshop, an eBay store, has great deals. Backcountry.com ships to Canada using UPS but with the brokerage already paid for.

There are many other US outlets that ship to Canada. The key is to have it shipped via USPS.

My gear from last year and for this year is:

07 Forum Recon 161
07 Forum Recon Bindings
08 32 Lashed boots and 07 32 Timba boots

jtsang93
08-01-2008, 01:34 PM
OH DUDE, okay nice thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll get some new gear from there hopefully stuffs the same price.

Hey guys, no problem helping you out.
Where are you guys located in Canada? I'm in Kitchener, ON.

As for a list of sites:

www.buysnow.com (http://www.buysnow.com) - I bought a jacket from them last year. They ship FedEx Int'l Ground, all brokerage fees paid for up front.

http://myworld.ebay.ca/djsboardshop&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID - DJ's Boardshop - I purchased my board and bindings and my gf's board and bindings from them. Because I purchased so much stuff, they hooked me up pretty well. They have an eBay store and eBay auctions, the auctions will usually have better deals.

http://www.backcountry.com, http://www.backcountryoutlet.com, www.dogfunk.com, (http://www.dogfunk.com,) www.steepandcheap.com, (http://www.steepandcheap.com,) www.whiskeymilitia.com (http://www.whiskeymilitia.com) - All owned by Back Country. They have an option of shipping via UPS, but with the brokerage already paid for up front.

http://www.snowboardconnection.com - ship via USPS

http://www.eternalsnow.com - Ship to Canada via USPS

https://www.banned.com - Ship to Canada via DHL...I have never used DHL internationally so I don't know how they handle brokerage charges.

Some Canadian stores that I have used:

http://store.thinkempire.com
http://www.alternative113.com - can be expensive
http://www.boardroomshop.com
http://www.freerideboardshop.com
http://www.ridersaddiction.com/
http://www.sourceboards.com/
http://www.theboardshoponline.com/

Hopefully that'll help you guys out.

Haven't been to St. Louis yet.

I also head down to NY state and go to Bristol Mountain and am hoping to get to Holiday Valley this winter.

Otherwise I'm on the sad ant hill here known as Chicopee.

Just after last season I've got myself:

Burton Twin 154
Burtom Custom Bindings (-15, +15)
And I still got my old Stuff shoes.
And I'm goofy with duckstance by the way. Previously I was really into alpine stance, but now I've got duckstance, I don't wanna go back. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Yeah please dont ever tell me that you guys buy based on graphic. Always look into specs and read reviews; demos never hurt either. I got lucky wit my board: Twin shape, wide stance, super buttery feel, and a killer graphic http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Board: Burton LOVE 155 (2008)

Bindings: Burton ANDY WARHOL (2008)

Boots: Burton RULER (2009)

LIB TECH!!!!
Made 100% in the USA, in the worlds most environmentally clean snowboard factory.

and also a few others -
GNU (Made by Mervin, same company as Lib Tech)
I believe DC boards are also made by Mervin, but don't hold me to that.
Bataleon (I think)
Arbor (Really nice boards)
I know theres more, cant think of many right now.

Yeah the boards made in the US are more expensive, I got a Lib Tech Travis Rice from last year. I bought it at the end of season sale for 300, it was originally $520 or somthin like that. But the magnetraction is sooooooooo worth it.

snowboarding101
10-22-2008, 06:52 PM
Its meant to help riding on hardpack. As we all know anything is rideable in powder, so it has little to no affect. But, on a standard day or ice day I find it does help. In case you don't know the idea behind it - it creates 7 points of contact of edge to snow as compared to one long point of contact on a standard edge. So on a board with standard edges if one point slips out it will act like a seam coming apart in that the failure point will progress along you entire board cause you to randomly and unexpectedly lose your edge (its happened to all of us at some point, yes its embarrassing). But with magnetraction if one point slips out then it has 6 more points to hold the edge to the slope, so all that happens is it transfers the stress from 7 to 6 points or so forth.

And for something else seeing as you were talking about supporting the USA companies. Get some Purl Wax, its INSANELY fast. small company out of Colorado a fellow instructor turned me on to. But seriously, its faster that anything I've ever ridden

purlracing.com oh man thats hot! I can't tell you how many times my board slipped out on me last winter (hahaha I was about to say washed out), and none of which felt exactly great. SO thats a very good idea!!!

snowboarding101
10-22-2008, 07:33 PM
If you wanna really feel the difference get a lib tech or a gnu with magnetraction and ride it for 2 or 3 weeks, then after that go back to riding a board with a standard edge for a day. That's when you really notice how much of a difference it makes.

There are a lot of not so corporate boards. I just bought last years stepchild Simon Chamberlain, want to try it out faster. I kinda wanted a twin with centered stance but it was with really good price so I bought it.
