None of the screenshots showed us any stack numbers. Does it mean there are no stacks?

Well, this is my honest guess of how ubisoft wanted to present the game:
First of all, they do not want to reveal any information yet. They just want to give us that "Eye candy" that Fabrice promised us and therefore they took screens of the game without the UI.
I also think they will release information in "steps", where as this is the "first step" showing us the graphics of the game.
To answere your question, I'm about 100% sure that the stacks will remain the same in this heroes game, Fabrice did say that him self a year ago.

I think all the screens are from the adventure map so there are no stack numbers.

I think they just left them out of the screenshots for the time being. There are no menus either, so I'm thinking they made some changes they're not willing to show us at this point. Maybe they want to surprise us with it all at E3. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I second Oscar-ius and FCY-JMDK-WLKY (heck, what a name), there are no signs of user interface or game controls. Hence I wouldn't draw conclusions here. On the other hand, removing stacks would be a very bad decision IMO.

lol, sorry about the name, my usual nicks were all taken. Feel free to abreviate http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif And I agree, how would the game work without stacks?

Fabrice have said "Yes" to stacks earlier, so unless he was lying (which I very much doubt), there will be stacks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree with you. No stacks is 100% not a Heroes of Might and Magic game anymore. Look at the oldest game, King's Bounty, it has stacks of creatures inside a Heroes's army.
One thing that make Heroes of Might and Magic unique from the rest of the turn-based strategy games out there is the stacked creatures in Heroes's army. Well unless I haven't play lots of turn-based strategy games, I am right.
As from what I can seen from the 4 screenshots so far, it is something like screenshots taken from some kind of online game that it doesn't have any UI at all. (btw is such game exist without UI and show what we seen on those 4 screenshots?)
I say these 4 are beta version of the game or maybe it is just somehow "fake" to pull out legs. Who knows? Once it reached the early 2006, then we will know. Well that's about say 10-12 months more?

Nival confirmed that the second screen (balor vs angel) was taken from the battlefield.

Balor eh... well first question, Balor (this name) isn't it from Baldur's Gate?
Is there any copyright issues involved with naming creatures and using style and features that are similar to other games from other companies?

Heh, right. Don't forget about:
Hydra, Medusa, Minotaur, Centaur, Harpy, Cerberus etc. (c) Copyright Greek Mythology
Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Dragons, Demons, Vampires (c) Copyright by every other fantasy game in the industry :P

Balor is a character of Celtic mythology. Try Google. There should really be a FAQ...

Heroes (no matter the number: I, II, III, IV... even King's Bounty!) has always been a great-numbers game. PLEASE DON'T REMOVE THE STACKS!!!! And if you maintain great numbers by representing every single creature on the battlefield, it will look like one of these so-few-loved-by-me RTS games, and just imagine to give orders to every unit!!
Turn-based is one of the main differences between Heroes and the rest of games. Keep on so!
Bye! And have a nice weekend

They probably removed the numbers to make it a better and more life-like screenshot.
