Am I the only one to notice this. It seems in Alliance espically the increase in number of players that either Run or Roof the entire match?
Now I'm not complaining about this. Runners specifically are easy pickings if you know how to play for stuns and kills. Really good for getting chain bonuses.
Roofers aren't hard either. Just annoying. they kill all the fun of the hunt. Well fun of when you are hunting the roofers. I don't have to pick them out of the crowd. and they see me comming a mile away. what a spoil sport. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif The thrill of the hunt useing blended groups and other NCP's to get close to them. picking them out of the crowd. that is all the fun of the game.
I know why they do it. I know it is a legitamte strategy (though a not very high point one If you know hot to counter and certain maps) but it just takes all the fun out of hunting them in alliance matches http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif
So am I the only one to notice a seeming increase in running and roofers in alliance matches? I've noticed a lot of i guess new or lower lvl players. but that really isn't an excuse becuase even when i was new I never ran.
I guess it seems to fall in the people think quantity is better then quality. which as some scores will show that isn't true. it is a blend of quality and quantity.
quantity scores only work if you shut the other person down from being able to score. which even in alliance matches can be a bit hard to do.

I have also noticed an increase in idiotic roof-running. I think it can mainly be attributed to the massive influx of new people buying the game recently. It also seems that many of these people are under the age of 10.
My main approach would be to try to cut them off, or corner them with coordination from your teammate. Try to predict where they will be heading. Also, if you chase down your pursuers, usually your targets will be close behind.
The only other thing that I can think of is to find a new lobby. Although that can be kinda difficult nowadays, since there is usually only one Alliance lobby going at a time.

I don't see a lot of runners in my Alliance matches, except maybe for when Florence comes around. I've been surprised, because especially with all DLC turned off, I usually end up with one team of smurfs, but I'm not complaining.
In Wanted, I do see an increase in running, both from experienced and less experienced players. The experienced players do it because they can. And the less experienced players probably saw a YouTube video of some of the top players and they try to emulate that style. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

in my opinion roofing is best in alliance due to the ability to avoid stun locks with it and it is able to score high points if they are good.

If the running gets too out of hand I just kill an NPC.

I generally try to cut them off, if it's wanted. I don't ever use a gun in wanted.
In manhunt I'll try to cut them off. If it fails, I shoot them.
It's not uncommon that I say screw it and just chase them. There's not very many people that can parkour in this game like I can or are as good with probabilities. Not to brag...Just kind of how it is for me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Chases are fun. imo.

Stop playing. If people are going to run around/roof the entire match, I have no problem ducking out of a match. Even if it ruins it for other people.
There has been an increase recently. And I refuse to kill NPC's because I refuse to give the ones running 100 points. I wonder if some of them use running as a "tactic" to get people to kill NPC's and give them free 100 points. Not that it puts them in the lead or anything, but I refuse to give people like that what they want.

How would they get 100 points? I mean, if you're in a chase, you should be able to catch them quickly anyway. If you mean that they get 100 points from a Lure, why would you intentionally give them a Lure? Just kill any random NPC.

They only get lure points if you kill the same persona near them. If you are nowhere near them, they don't get it. If you don't kill the same persona, they don't get it.

As Zoidberg said, Knives.
Why are they not on the list?
Seriously. Best roofer/runner counter EVER. Especially on roofers, because of all those lovely mid-air and acrobatic falling over moments, which make me laugh. Then murder people.

Oh, I wasn't aware of this. That changes everything. Too bad there's not a "blond moment" smiley.

I noticed a dramatic increase in running and roofing over the last 2 weeks, but I found that I improved the situation for myself by switching (and improving) my gaming tactic. Before, I would try to reach that target as quick as possible by following their trail at breakneck speed; these days, I recognize the value of slowing down, not letting my target dictate how I play and trying to find a way to - calmly - cut them off and try for a high-scoring kill. I've gotten my fair share of Acrobatic bonuses by identifying a roofer's path, crawling up a building on the opposite side from the side they're coming from and killing them right as I vault onto the roof and they run right into my path.
Of course, there are matches that are unbearably roof-oriented, and really devoted roofers in non-roofy matches. In the latter case, I'll just kill an NPC whenever I get assigned that particular target.
EDITED TO ADD: Funnily enough, not long after posting this, I played two matches where people just wouldn't touch the freaking ground. Needless to say, I had zero fun.

sorry didn't think of knifes. i can rest poll and add them if you want. i was just thinking of a few things. off the quick top off my head.
@StarScream391 & Dave0718
why are you the only two to see this as a complain thread. which is far from. must you be so grumpy to assume every thread is a complain thread?
and normally i cut them off. or when the chase starts if i have enough space get a running start. drop smoke and stun pursure. or when hunting cut them off.
some times i get tired of it and just start hidden gunning him. though it is fun when i get in a blended group. see them running by me and hidden incognito them out of the blended group. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

hmm wondering if you guys just read the title and ignored the rest.
Anyway Yes i have noticed an increase of new players which usually means an increase of careless running/roofing.
how i deal with it?
1)gain early first place control the match.
2)adapt become aggressive and flank.
3)kill unrelated npc
4)knives and gun and turn on the RAGE!
I am a little surprised with the increase E3 was around a month ago.. i never noticed an increase of players after.. why now?

Zoidberg and I ended up in a Ranked Alliance match last night where the team of doctors literally ran from the minute the match started to the minute it ended with no stopping. It was like their entire strategy was just to run...dunno if they were goofing off or what. At one point I was finally able to get to them, and I saw both of them running side by side in pretty much perfect sync. We ducked out of that match, because that was truly just NOT fun.

the big thing i don't get is if players are runners. and they get in a match with 2 teams of good/vet players. they pretty much end up as stun locking fodder.
i was playing with either oblivion or nerf i can't remember which. and one team did nothing but stun locking to win. and while they got us ever now and then. when the runing team was the one that they could stun. they would get stun locked a lot. like at the end the guy had close to 20 stuns.
and even after that and us scoreing more points on them. they continued to run. and this wasn't a player match. this was ranked. a game mode that most people take at last a bit serious.
