Wouldn't be nice if the game told you what destroyed your sub. I just dove to 90 feet and was crawling away from a destroyer when I accumulated so much damage, from nothing, that I sank. I wish I could be told what happened. I would expect it to say something like ... exceeded maximum depth or inadequate repairs exceeded. I may have taken some damage earlier but I would've fixed it but it may have been to little to late for the subs overall ability to perform.

Well I admit that it would be good info to get.
As far as unseen damage.......sorta like the USS Thresher(SSN593). She went down while doing a deep dive test in the presence of a sub recovery ship. Why? Only best guesses. Was it unseen damage from the tug boat that rammed her by mistake when in harbor? Poor weld during an overhaul(leading theory)?. Ice condensation from faulty air valves that kept her from blowing her tanks(proven a problem with same valves on another sub)? Bad nuclear safety rules that he crew followed to the letter, shutting down the reactor, but loss of power at the critical moment she needed it? Or did the Cap'n just screw up and put her under crush depth? No one knows for sure. Never will. Only thing for certain is that at 200 ft below her test depth she was crushed like an egg.
