Hello fatexer,
Welcome.
It is not a good idea to post your e-mail address on the internet. You may get people sending you e-mails that you did not want.
Go back to your post and edit it. Take your e-mail address out of there.
When someone has a solution for you or a question they will reply to you here.
I can't help you with SH5 but someone should be along that will.

Hey fatexer
To try and resolve this issue, you may need to manually install the GameLauncher software, which handles the online authentication in the game. Please note that this software MUST be installed to play the game, and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.
First, you will need to uninstall the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software from the 'Add/Remove Programs' (Windows XP) / 'Installed Programs' (Windows Vista and 7) icon in your computer's control panel. It's possible that the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" software will not be listed if you have already uninstalled it, or the game. If so, you can skip this step.
After uninstalling the software, you will need to manually delete any leftover files in the C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (32-bit versions of Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher (64-bit versions of Windows). Please do not skip this step, it is very important.
Once you have manually deleted the files left in that folder, you can reinstall the GameLauncher software from: http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orb...auncherInstaller.exe (http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe) and then you should be able to start the game.

I just bought SH5 (collectors edition), but cannot play it.
The problems I have are as follows:
1. The game settings detector says I meet all requirements except shader model 3.
I have a Nvidia GTX 465 graphics card and run Win 7 64 bit.
After doing some searching on the net I found that my GPU supports up to shader model 5, so why does the settings detector say that it does not support shader model 3?
2. I tried running the game and after the autopatcher I get a message on my screen saying SH5 stopped working.
This is what I have tried so far:
1. I have updated my GPU drivers with the latest available
2. Downloaded and installed the Ubisoft game launcher.
Still cannot run the game, and could really use some help now.

You can Ignore the System detection tool for the time being. That is a Known issue with SH5, as few other Gamers have reported that.
First try to Remove and Un-install all the VC++ runtime files from your PC, and then try playing the Game. Go to control panel, and remove the VC++ Redistributable Runtime Packages.
You can Install the one later, which comes with the SH5 Game DVD later on, but first try to remove them. Have you also updated and installed the DirectX 9 runtime files ?

OK, I should have DX9 updated now, but I'm having trouble finding this VC++ you mention.
I'm honestly not even sure what it is.
I only recently started using Win 7 and are still trying to get used to the difference of the control panel from my old XP OS.
XP I knew by heart after using it for many years, and the Win 7 one still confuses me at times.
I tried searching for it, but cant seem to find it

You need to Look under Programs and Features. The VC++ files, if installed, must be listed there by the Name 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistributable' etc....
Control panel---->Programs--->Programs and Features.

Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.
After uninstalling the VC++ files it still would not run, so I tried something I should have thought of from the start.
Instead of running the game using the shortcut created by the installer, I tried running it directly from the game folder, and that did the trick.
For some reason the shortcut was creating issues with running it, so I just created a new shortcurt from the program file in the game folder.
Appreciate the help though, nice to know there are help to be had when it is needed.

Hello DDM_Dragonlord,
I'm glad your Game works now ! Thanks for sharing this Info. I hope this helps out other Gamers, if they face the same issue with SH5.
Yes, sometimes Simple tricks do work. Maybe the Shortcut was creating a problem.
Cheers.
