Anyone else think the No Hud for 360 should be optional, I don't like the idea of a little light on me that's supposed to tell me if I"m hidden or not because what if The Camera is at an angle I can't see?

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif They should bring back the light
meter. You can see that no matter where you point the camera.

One on Sam's front, one on Sam's back and one on his weapon. No matter what camera angle you'll try it's highly unlikely that you can't see one of them and if you have the weapon drawn, then you'll see the one that's on the weapon! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
The new stealth meter is simply different looking than the old light & sound meter but the working principle is still the same (more or less). To be more precise: The only difference is, it's no longer part of the HUD and therefor doesn't obstruct the players view. http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/3047/spysmileyaw6.png (http://www.deviantart.com/edit/36772683/)

you shouldn't need a meter to tell if ur hidden or not. i would say use common sense(if ur in the light ur visible, if in the dark ur not visible).

The only problem is that light doesn't have everywhere the same intensity, so if you want to keep it realistic then you have to pay attention to this fact! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

the thing they removed from the hud that I dislike the most is the health bar. having regenative health in what is supposed to be a realistic game is just stupid. i realize they need some way to convey to the player whether or not they're hidden, but the health thing is just rediculous....
one thing i wonder though, how will we know which attachment we have in the SC-20k's Launcher attachment? i know i would be able to keep track of what i had in there, but for the people who dont' remember little things like that, i wonder how they're conveying to the players what gadget they have in the launcher...

The very small HUD that is there extends when you draw your weapon, showing all you need to know for that gadget.
Vth_F_Smith: There are actually 4 light meters, front, back, gun, and small objective HUD in the bottom left corner. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But with the HUD that shows your current weapon doesn't it go away when you put it away. If so, what if your playing and you can't remember which weapon you have out and the amount of time it takes you to switch weapons you'll end up dying?

I think the sound meter is more important than a light meter. You can easily point out dark areas but it is hard to know how much noise you are making.

in fact, i agree with you. the sound metre is definetly more important that the light metre. but you also want to know if you are in light areas or dark areas. just lately i played PT at the airport and i thought i was well within the shadows and therefore invisible to the guards, when one of the shouts and teh shoots. i look at the light metre and see that i am partially in the light even though it did not look like it.

I'm glad there doing the HUD that way. At least it's not in the way. I was tired of having to look at the damb thing. This way it's more realistic. Yeah UBI thank you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I like the drastically reduced HUD. It got too cramped up in the others.

No HUD gives it a way more cinematic like feel. I love that, just like KingKong. (Also Ubisoft http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif)

I think the No HUD is nice in its minimalist approach. Sometimes too much information on screen just provides clutter. It seems the new HUD only brings up data when it is pertinent to the current event. Usability of the HUD is something that we'll have to see in action.

No HUD is fine with me. Not only does it have a much more cinematic feel, but it is also much more realistic. Do the idea of a spy having a little bar at the bottom of their line of vision showing them exactly how visible and how much noise they are making seems semi unrealistic. The developers of course couldn't get rid of it completely, so they put it on your gun, back, ect. To me that is just as good.
Also, someone mentioned the health. I didn't think it regenerated at all. It just doesn't tell you what your health is until it is at a critical low.

Your health does increase. In one of the vids, you can see his health is critical, and by the end of the level it is minor. No health packs.

They did this to increase the action ingame in certain situations. I think it's a good improvement, cause you won't 'save yourself' that much anymore. It will become a more ongoing experience. In CT a big fight would almost always result in death.

Improvement? I am almost dead, I'll just move Sam into this dark corner and make myself something to eat. When I am back, I shall be good to go.
