It's a shame really. Personally I have no problems with the DRM but I know some people will. Hopefully there'll be a better solution to all of this soon!

Thanks for that. Game uninstalled and refund requested.

It's more than just the always on DRM that has people ****ed off. The system requirements are ridiculously high, the game's locked at 30 FPS, and to top it off, there's no graphics options, so if it's too taxing on your system there's nothing you can do. The only option it provides is the option to change the resolution.

No problem. I'm sure Ubi will correct this DRM of theirs, not looking so good at the moment http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

As regards the system requirements being high you have to remember there is a fair amount of processing going on in this game, everything behaves as a volumetric material in the world. It's like if all the levels in Unreal engine games were made of BSP it would just eat power and they are fixed points of geometry. The shifting geometry and calculations and real time rendering are pretty heavy bits of code, let alone stuff like material collision, path finding and constraints (its not standard stuff here). So I think its a bit difficult to use that in an argument. Its like if people complained Crysis was a bit heavy on the specs.

works fine on a console, but on a PC with hardware much greater than the consoles? better cap that fps at 30 just in case, because the hardware that came out 4-5 years after that console is pretty bad..

I'm just glad that Steam, a reliable company, is doing their best to clean up Ubisoft's mess.

Even more reason why additional options/tweaks should have been implemented.

This explains why they lied with their first post stating we can play offline and then, the day after release, removed that post and posted a new thread saying "haha we lied. You really have to be online to play". If they had told the truth straight up, we could have more easily been given refunds.

I've had little luck getting a refund so far.
It's such a shame that what could have been a great game, rightly supported by a big publisher, could have been superb. From Dust is revolutionary, but Ubisoft just showed their contempt towards customers by not releasing the game correctly ported to the PC and by decieving consumers over the DRM the game would have.
I had intended to play it on my laptop when travelling or where I can't get an internet connection - no luck. If I can't get a refund on Steam or Ubisoft don't patch out the dreadful DRM that PUNISHES legitimate purchasers, then I am stuck with a game that I'll only be able to play on my PC...and even then it's touch and go getting it to run without bugging out or crashing. Don't get me started on graphics, sound and controls...
Sorry, just really disappointed about From Dust, like many others I imagine.

Sidiri, I received the exact same response as you did and was declined a refund. I replied once again asking for a refund as that I can not trust the games advertised features that steam sells and that whether or not I receive a refund will impact whether or not I buy from steam ever again. Not to mention the fact that the game still crashes before I can even play it.

I as well have had little luck so far with steam. Perhaps it may be time to start putting a little pressure on them as well.

I'm not getting a refund. Why are so many sites claiming that Valve is offering refunds?

They're all referencing the claims of one or two people who have not backed up the statements with proof.
