View Full Version : Did I Buy A Pirate DVD?

I just ordered and received SCCT on DVD from the "Amazon Marketplace" (not to be confused with Amazon direct)... The DVD package I received appears either pre-owned used, rented, or pirate game software; the DVD package was not sealed with the usual tamper proof tape or holograph stickers, there was no manual, and while there was an "Install Key" there was no "CD KEY" so the product is completely unplayable -- the game was advertised as "New" on Amazon Marketplace.
I've written both Amazon and the Reseller, and have yet to hear back; in the mean time I'd appreciate any help from anyone in letting me know if this is in fact how SCCT is packaged, or if not what exactly I'm missing, or where the "CD Key" is printed, or any experience and suggestions you might have in dealing with Amazon Marketplace customers...

the cd-key should be printed onto the front of the manual, an since you have no manual either the sellers have ****ed about or someone has tampered with it during the delivery process.

Yes, the CD key is on the back of the manual so without it you will not be able to play online. Single player should work. This is why I stick with regular retailers. Try used at EB games of somewhere like that if you can find it next time. They make sure it has everything in it. You may try to contact UBI at their tech support and say you do not have a CD key and give them your install key to see if they can get you a new one.

Thanks guys, fortunately I bought it through "Amazon Marketplace" so there is coverage for refund/return through Amazon directly -- but that will take 30 days.
In the mean time I was wondering why no one is playing SCPT MP; did everyone drop it for SCCT...

Well there's good news for anyone that's inclined to buy games on Amazon Marketplace and is concerned about the vendors; Amazon has a very nice "A-To-Z Guarantee (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/537868/102-4521108-6114544)" and apparently puts a lot of pressure on vendors that sell shakey products, to meet the criterion of the guarantee and will even cover those that don't.
I got all my money back including shipping, and reordered the game from GoGamer. Now what worries me is I see everyone is wondering where all SCCT's Fans are disappearing to and I don't even have my game yet... I suppose the BF2 demo... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
