Nobody cares about this, but I just saw House of The Dead the other day. Total MST 3K material. Anybody else like watching bad videogame movies, or bad movies in general and laughing at the horrible acting, cheesy script and terrible make-up? Or is that just me?

Street Fighter starring Jean Claude Van Damme. That my friend is a piece of work. But Raul Julia(R.I.P) was so over the top in his portrayal of M. Bison that it had plenty of funny moments. Always good for a laugh.

Ha, ha! I was so much of a SF fanboy that I saw it in the theater! I love the end, where they all pose in the SF "win" poses together. Hee, hee, hee.

Yup, saw the new trailer, and I will repeat, thank God it's not directed by Uwe Boll. How many video game bombs can one person direct?!?
Anyway, I guess I don't mind watching them in a bored-Sci-Fi-tv-movie-watching kinda way.

I don't know about y'all, but I really don't have time to waste watching ****. Hence, please stop making **** movies out of videogames and **** videogames out of movies.

Pac.....This one actually looks good. Are you kidding. Some name actors/actresses to paleez. For a video game movie, I like it...So far.

DOA the movie = Charile's Angels with a different title.
Final nail on the coffin. No more Video game movies for me.

Meh.....
Call me a pesimist, but so far the history of Games to movies hasn't been all wine and roses. Maybe this will be like the comicbook movie transition where the first several attempts (anyone remember the Punisher staring Dolph Lungren and Louis Gossett Jr.?) suck until you eventually find your Batmans (Keaton)and Spidermans.
I'll prolly check it out, but with very low expectations.

I think that Street Fighter was just the epitome of bad... but it was still hilarious. I saw part of one of the Mortal Kombat movies... that was pretty sad too.
My dad is a huge fan of the b-movies. Having seen things like "The Crawling Eye," "Frogs" and (my favorite) "Plan 9 from Outer Space," I can honestly say that watching bad movies in general is a great way to pass time.

Yep, you just have to be in the right mindset. I find myself sometimes having a lot more fun watching bad movies than stuff the mainstream thinks is good. Also, Pac--thank you for mentioning the original Punisher. That movie was indeed hilarious. And Frogs was sooo funny-bad. Boll shows a lot of promise in the bad movie arena. I look forward to watching Bloodrayne.

Come to think of it... Hast here ever been a good video game based movie? None that I've seen, I know that much. The TR movies were absolutely horrid to say the least. I don't understand why they wanted to make a movie from those games if the only thing that remained the same was the title...
I have to say I think there will be at least one good video game based movie in the future. Halo. Peter Jackson is directing it, so I have high hopes. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've never played a Tomb Raider game (has anyone really, with those controls O_O ) but the first movie seemed pretty good as far as the feeling of a video game went.
I've also never played a Resident Evil game, but Apocalypse was downright scary and I thought it did a good job of meeting my expectations for what a Resident Evil game would be like.
Neither movie was exceptionally bad, from a purely film standpoint. As far as their representation of their respective games goes, that I can't comment on.

Apocalypse was scary? I must have been watching the wrong movie.

Resident Evil Apocalypse wasn't scary at all. In fact, it came across as more of an action movie than a horror movie. I really wish the studio had taken Romero's script so we wouldn't have had to deal with two rather bad movies.

It was scary to a degree that it was done in a realistic enough fashion.
It didn't have me quivering in fear or anything.

He's not directing, he's producing. But your high hopes are justified.

Sorry, but he's not even doing that. He's actually overseeing in an advisory roll. They will rely on his expertise in a way as to not let the movie fall prey to the suck like all the others.
Here is a quote from the press release:
"Jackson and Walsh will provide creative counsel on all aspects of the film via their WingNut Films banner, and Jackson's award-winning companies, Weta Digital Ltd. and Weta Workshop Ltd., will provide creatures, miniatures, and visual effects for the production," said Microsoft in a statment. "The Halo agreement marks the first time that Jackson and Walsh have performed these services on a major studio film that Jackson is not directing."

He's providing the workforce. He's giving the director the full disposal of WETA. And he's placing the full responsibility of the film's quality firmly under his banner. Smells like a producer to me.
