since I cant select the blue buttons I cant set KI to find calibration markers

Hi, YeOldMan, I'm giving this a bit of a bump so it gets noticed.

I'm having a hard time visualizing the problem (been a long time since I played To D'ni) but perhaps someone else can help you out.

Belated welcome to the forums, OldMan!

Check your PMs. I have something I'd like to try that might very well fix your glitch.

Thanks, Rev, for helping him out! I couldn't even remember enough to know if it was a tech problem or not.

Good news.

The glitch is fixed. YeOldMan has the missing hotspots back and probably has the GZ calibrated by now...

That's great!

So, what was it that worked?

YeOldMan zipped up his SAV folder and sent it to me.

I moved mine and replaced it with his, logged in, went to the Great Zero. The missing hotspots were there as I hoped they would be. I logged out, let the Uru client resave his game, zipped up the folder and sent it back.

He replaced his old SAV folder with the new one, logged in, and he was back in business.

I did something like this one other time for somebody who was missing the "new" Linking book in the Kadish vault after completing PotS. It should have been there but wasn't.

I think that sometimes in the saved game files there are things that get turned "off" somehow (that shouldn't) -- maybe in the vault file, but not in the age files... or vice versa. Opening the SAV game files and resaving them on another system seems to "fix" this apparent disparity.

At least that's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

(If you quote me... I'll deny I ever said it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

Jason, that's very very good to know! I can think of another application for that - when the ladder refuses to come out of the wall at the end of PotS.

Just tried to fix a ladder-not-coming-out-of-the-wall problem.

The person sent me their SAV folder, I logged in, and the Rolep ladder worked just fine on my system. I journey to the next shell cloth and touched it to give them a new bookmark in case it still didn't work after sending it back to them.

I sent the SAV folder back. Unfortunately, they still weren't able to make the ladder work; but at least they were able to continue on by way of the shell cloth, backtrack a bit, and see the sights...

I wonder if reinstalling Uru would fix that particular glitch?

At this point, I'd say that reinstalling as per Uru: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP, Including Windows & Hard Disk Tune-up (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/356106565) (preferably including a tune-up) would be the thing to do.
