can we have this plane in the game (a version carrying missiles etc). It would also be awesome to fly in free flight (if there is one). It should be pilotable, and maybe an unlockable aircraft. What do you guys reckon?

The stealth problem was because the Russian EW radar systems progressed beyond the blip-scan tracking methodology that the high-speed and reduced RCS profile was designed to defeat. Not that it mattered too much, FGP's U-2 shoot-down ended manned overflight of the USSR anyway.
An armed Blackbird in the game? An F-12 would be a lot of fun, but you'd only get three missiles!

four missiles actually, but yea, YF-12 FTW! make em AIM-120D's and we have a crispy aircraft that won't be able to be shot down *** nothing will be able to catch it at top speed.

The YF-12A and production F-12B were designed with four weapon bays in the chines, but one of them would have contained fire control system components (the forward bay on the right hand side).
There was actually a study in the 1980's calling for armed SR-71s to be used to take down Soviet AWACS platforms ahead of strategic bombers. One of them envisioned an AWG-9/AIM-54 combo, but the later version had an APG-65/AIM-120 combo. The declassified program summary has a graph depicting the range of the AIM-120 (the A model, mind you) when fired at 80K FT and Mach 3. It would have topped out at right around 80 NM. The aircraft in the proposal was referred to as the SR-71I.

with 120D's, it could get to a max of over 180NMhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
