PS3 Freezing (Update, 11/19 12:00PM PST)

We are aware that some consumers are having issues with the PS3 version of the game freezing. We are investigating this issue very seriously and will come back to you with more information as soon as possible. In the meantime, we appreciate the feedback you are providing and welcome any additional information relating to your PS3 and firmware versions as well as details of where the freeze occurs. You can report this information directly to us via the official support channels or in this thread. Please refer to your game manual for details.

The following information is helpful:

- Type of crash:

"hang"� (= where the screen is totally frozen)? in this case, was there anything special displayed on screen? (text message, popup window...)

"matrix-like"� freeze (where the camera can still be moved)? in this case, did you notice a white popup (tutorial box) beforehand?

- Time played since the game was launched (ie "time elapsed since player started his game session"�)?

- Frequency of crashes (if recurring)?

- Firmware version : 1.94 or 2.0?

- Connected to PSN?

- Information board activated? (2.0 only)

2.00 here as well, game has frozen about four or five times. Hasn't since yet I'm concerned of it happening once more.

I'm running 2.00 also. I have locked up twice while entering into a city. The screen just goes white and I can't do anything except reset the PS3. I have also had a glitch in the modern day scenario. After my first assassination when the male scientist wakes you up and say Lucy wants you to rest, I go rest, then wake up and have a conversation with the scientist about the purpose of the experiment. Then Lucy comes in and when I walked toward the Animus it gave me an option to talk in which I asked her a few questions. Except I was talking to a voice in the air, Lucy's image disappeared, then afterwards she tells me to look on the laptop for more info. I tried to and got no result. I then went into my room where I then got locked in because the door wouldn't open and couldn't get out. So I had to reset it again. These issues are getting pretty annoying. Minor game bugs I can usually handle but issues that make me have to power off my system to fix remind me of the **** I deal with on PC games.

I have posted this solution at several places. Its not the FW thats causing this problem. It only freezes when you are logged into the PlayStation Network. Mine froze twice in the beginning and then i started playing around with the settings. When you don't log into your PSN then the game runs just fine. I have been playing the game for almost 18 hours and it has yet to freeze on me again. I also gave this suggestion to few of my buddies who were having problems and this solved the issue for them.

I have 2.0 as well, same thing. Only I'm used to it with Ubisoft. All the Prince of Persia games were horribly full of glitches, especially Warrior Within. Can you guys please start making some quality work? I'd love the games if they actually worked.

2.00 here also had about 3 feezes entering new areas. Always a white screen cannot do anything but reset. Also after playing this game my friggin ps3 broke (no joke) wont read any disc at all now dont know if its coincidence or what but it sucks and it didnt happen till this game.

I received my Assassin's Creed yesterday and the game froze my PS3 during a transition scene leaving the tunnel where the Ark of the Covenant is. The female voice said "let's skip forward to a more recent memory", the whole screen went white and stuck.

I left it alone, not pushing any buttons for 15-20 seconds, then tried to push all my controller buttons except the PS button, nothing happened.

Then I attempted to leave the game by pushing the PS button, but that didn't do anything either. Finally, I tried to power off the PS3 by holding the power button on the console itself, normally this takes <5 seconds to power off the playstation, but the freeze was so bad I had to hold the power button for at least 20 seconds before I got a beep. Only then did the PS3 begin it's shutdown process.

I'm running my highest resolution at 1080i over a component cable to my LCD tv. I also have the Sony 2.0 update on the PS3

UBISOFT'S RESPONSE:

Is your game CD Scratched or Damaged?

1. Inspect the underside of the CD closely.
2. If their are any smudge marks, dirt, or scratches, clean the disk.

NOTE: When cleaning CDs, wipe from the center of the disc to the edge using a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Do not use a circular motion. Also, do not use paper cloth which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks.

3. Insert the CD and try playing again.

NOTE: We have had reports of bad saves causing these problems. In a few cases, removing the memory card )if applicable) while the system is frozen will allow the game to continue. You should then be able to insert the memory card again and continue playing.

- Do you have more then one controller plugged in?

1. Try removing all but one controller from the system before loading the game again.
2. If the game loads, there may be a problem with one of the other controllers.

If you continue to have this problem after attempting all the tips above, then you should take the game back to the retailer and swap it for another copy. If you continue to have this problem with a new copy of the game, then the problem is most likely with your PS3. At this point you should call Sony @ 1-800-352-7669. We would also like to know the serial and model number of your console. These numbers are listed on the back of your PS3. Thanks for your help.

CONCLUSION:

Ubisoft's suggestions were inneffective, chief reasons being:

1. THE PS3 DOESN'T HAVE MEMORY CARDS, IT HAS A HARD DRIVE.

2. YOU CAN'T "PLUG IN" A CONTROLLER, THE PS3 USES BLUETOOTH. (I know there's a USB cable)

3. AFTER REPLACING THE GAME DISK WITH A NEW ONE, THE GAME FROZE IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AND IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE.

HENCE, THIS IS NOT A GAME DISK PROBLEM IN MY OPINION.

Concerning those suggesstions in the previous posts:

1. I've run the game while logged into PSN as well as running the game with me ethernet cable disconnected. No difference in freezing.

2. Restarting the PS3 has no effect on the freeze.

Ubisoft, I want to thank you for allowing me to pay $60 to be a debugger for you. Hopefully we can do this fun stuff with every release from now on! Yay!

I've had it freeze up on me 7 times so far. It used to be just during the loading, ala the white screen people here are talking about, but my last 2 freezes have been while I was walking around a city.

I'm using 2.00, I've also tried turning off the information bar on the xmb, that didn't seem to do anything.

I have only experienced the white screen freeze once. I am not logged into PSN, while playing. Mainly, it will freeze on me during mid-play and I can move the camera but Altair is completely stuck.

I usually know this will happen because I will find a flag or a message will pop up but the little display window that pops up with the message will be completely white (no image at all).

It's the firmware, there have been lots of new bugs thanks to 2.0! :@. I got my 1st freeze today on assassin's creed. It was really wierd, I was running from a guard, and I bumped a nobody, then, the game "stopped", but I could still control the camera and press the buttons. When I pressed, for exemple, jump, altair didn't jump, but the "X" button got pressed on the upper right corner of the screen :S, really wierd. At least this game saves NON STOP!

I'm using firmware 2.0, and some users on gamespot said that they never froze, and the only thing they had in common was the user of the 1.91 firmware.

i just started the game again for the 3rd time becaues i have a bad habbit of doing that if im not too far into it and i miss the story line. This is the first part after you kill the templar in the beginning. I was messing with the map and had checked it placed a player marker and then deleted it ( just messing witht he map) and then i exited the map screen and it froze instantly.

the game froze and i had to restart the ps3 manually because holding the "ps" button wouldnt bring up the xmb menu.


im using firmware 2.00
hooked up through an hdmi cable
the controller was not hooked up with the usb cable and it was fully charged
the game was not scratched

And the ps3 was not in an enclosed environment.

Mine crashed near the beginning when getting on a horse for the first time. The controls froze, the picture froze, but the sound didn't, sounded like things were still working. I'm running a UK PS3 on firmware 2.0

Same thing happend to me 4 times and 1 time it got stuck like only a screenshot nothing was moving not even the hud the buttons weren't flashing and I could still hear sounds of the city ....

I've got a 40GB PS3 with 2.0 Firmware - Assassin's Creed has frozen on me a total of 5 times. This is very disheartening, and now I'm thinking about trading it in while the value is still good. Maybe I'll pick up Uncharted instead.

Yeah, I've had my PS3 freeze while playing about 5 times since picking up AC yesterday.

It always seems to happen during loads - in that, the console doesn't seem locked up (you can still move Altair around) but it just never loads the next section. When you go into the PS3 menu, there is a severe lag and to quit the game, the PS3 has to do a hard reset.

This is on FW 2.0 on a launch model 60 GB PS3.

Well, I just encountered something new besides all of the freezing. I was being chased by guards in Jerusalem when major slowdown occured...luckily I hit a save point. I quit to main menu to restart...I restarted at the Bureau...it was at normal speed. But, now the graphics were whacked. People were stretched and blurred. It was eerie but, at the same time funny. So, I shut down the game for now. This is frustrating as all he!! C'mon Ubi...

I haven't heard of any real issues with 40GB models (other than people returned them after finding out they weren't BC with PS2 games). I believe my issues with Assassin's Creed are because of Assassin's Creed.

Pretty much the same here. It seemed to happen inside cities shortly after I completed one of the side missions.

It's already been stated many times, in this very thread that people with 1.94 are also having the freezes. It has nothing to do with the firmware, and everything to do with Ubisoft's horrible quality control. They ship games with bugs like this all the time, and particularly on the PS3.


Quite honestly, I doubt they'll ever patch this game as I don't believe they care about the PS3 version of any game they put out. It's an afterthought, and they've already got your money.

I was ready to go down to the shops and get this game in a minute but looking at all these problem with the PS3 version I'm not sure I will. Is EVERYONE having these issues or just a few people? Looks like a great game but I'll spend my money on something else if it's freezing the whole time. It seems strange they'd put it out with these freezing issues, it would be obvious straight away so it must be something to do with the firmware or something that's happened since it went gold. I have an hour to go and get, not sure its worth the risk...

If the size of this thread hasn't already given you the feeling that everyone is havint this problem, I don't know what will.

This problem will affect just about everyone who buys this game on the PS3. Maybe that rare case will play through the game without a problem, but it's very doubtful. It's just a matter of bad luck though when you hit that bad point in the code which triggers a freeze. It's like that with any glitchy game. Assassin's Creed just happens to have a lot of those potential freezing points in the game code. Ubisoft doesn't care about their quality control, and it shows.

I was playing the game for about 6 or 7 hours. After a small pause (turned of my PS3), I continued with the game... I've reached memoryblock 4 now. At the start of this block you have to choose one of the 3 city's. Whatever city I choose, the map doesn't show the objectives! I looked in the "map-setting" to make sure "all objectives" is selected. You have to do some investigation before you get your fether. The whole city is visible now, but there aren't any (main)objectives visible in the map.

Only thing I can do now, is walk without any goal... Very very very dissapointing!!! How can this be!!!???

its just annoying and it ruins the whole fun of that fantastic game ...
Shame on you ubisoft that you release such a buggy game, if you would have delayed the release by a month and solved these little problems everybody would be happy.

It's already been stated many times, in this very thread that people with 1.94 are also having the freezes. It has nothing to do with the firmware, and everything to do with Ubisoft's horrible quality control. They ship games with bugs like this all the time, and particularly on the PS3.


Quite honestly, I doubt they'll ever patch this game as I don't believe they care about the PS3 version of any game they put out. It's an afterthought, and they've already got your money.

So far had one occasion where the game froze - while running on a rooftop the avatar freezes while background continues to move and camera was moveable. Currently running latest update 2.00 and have only had it freeze on this one occasion at this point. Hope this helps and a fix is on the way.

Hey bonehead, did you read the very first post? The Ubi Fourm Manager ASKED everyone which firmware version they are using.

not everyone takes an initiative to investigate the issue online, and not everyone winds up here on the ubi forum. And some that do may not want to take the time to register an account just to complain. Plus, the game hasn't been out that long.

First off I am running 2.0, and have had my assassins creed game freeze on me about 30min to an hour into game play each time I start, its really annoying. I can't seem to get anywhere and then I have to restart everything over. It has happen to me while climbing walls, in the load screen, on horse ect. I know its not the ps3 cause I have played Guitar Hero, and had played 1-2 hr RFoM, and in both them it didn't freeze once.

When it happens most of the time I can still rotate the camera, most controls stop working, but the ps button. Last time it happen was in a load screen and I was able to keep running, but when the load screen was up 10-15min figured it froze. Would like this to be fixed, I am returning the game tomorrow before its too late.

When I first played the game it ran at 720pHD, although the case said it supported 720 and 1080i.It won't go to 1080i if 720 is selected on my ps3's display settings.Well, I disabled 720p and now the game plays in 1080P HD. Is this ok? The game wasn't meant for 1080pHD right? I have had several freezes and lockups since I got it.It even froze during a jump like in the matrix movies.I could spin the camera around but nothing else and had to hard reset my PS3.Will a patch for the PS3 be available? Is it ok to run the game in 1080pHD? I love the game and it wouldn't stop me from playing it but I was just curious..

You are far more forgiving than I am sir. The game has frozen on me twice today in one hour - if a patch isn't released soon I'll be trading this game in for something else. Having frozen on me a total of 7 times in under 6 hours of gameplay I consider it to be unplayable.

It seems the camera and player models freeze, but the sounds and music were still going. I've had the game freeze on me about 5 or 6 times. I've played for approximately 20 hours. Occasionally it will go "Matrix" on me and I can move the camera around my frozen Altair. Altair is always climbing something when this has happened, but I don't know if that's the cause. This has happened to me twice, and again, I was climbing and free running on rooftops when it occurred. Furthermore, when this happens the entire world stops moving; all NPCs are just frozen too. Smoke continues to swirl though and again I still have control of the camera and sound still plays. Also, when I hit the PS button and try to quit the game, the PS3 beeps and does a hard reboot, instead of just quitting the game (Like the system really got stuck and couldn't take me back to the cross media bar without resetting the entire console.)

Real freezes (when everything stops and I have no control of the camera) has happened about 4 times. It's very annoying, and once it occurred in the middle of an automatic save. I was worried all of my data would be corrupted but it started me back in the city's Assassin's Bureau like I hadn't achieved anything yet. weird.

I also experience various glitches every now and then like the music muting itself for 3 seconds then coming back on in the middle of the game. I also cannot play the game in 1080i, only 720p.

I am using Firmware 2.0

Oh, and also I have seen even more accounts of freezing issues on the GameFAQs.com forums and other places. Everywhere you go you read about the issues. Please fix this. Thanks. DAMNIT... did'nt take the blue pill. But i'm still doing the Matrix on Assassin's Creed.

Besides all the screen tear and framerate issues, assassin's is full of bugs.
Ten minutes ago i finished playing after altier and his trusty steed freezed while in mid air. The camera could be moved and the music and enviromental effect were still on. had to reboot.
Also guards appear ahead of me out of thin air sword in had.

Nice Job UBISOFT you have people paying full price to become beta testers!

While I have not experienced any freezing yet (Between AC and Mario galaxy I haven't really had enough time to play either http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ), I just wanted to say that the screen tearing is pretty awful, and there are plenty of frame rate issues.

Maybe firmware 2.0 gave more RAM back to developers? Maybe a few extra FPS can be squeezed out of the system?

You guys designed Assassin's Creed so that it can be patched on the PS3, I hope!

Beautiful interactive enviroments, Fun and immersive missions all these things the game could be..........

BUT....

The Screen Tearing and Frame Rate are beyond a joke on the PS3, It has frozen for me nearly 12 times and i got it today, at 11am (Firmware 2.00).... Infact i bunked off work to get it (SHH), I actually feel gutted, i have paid £45 for some half finished product..... Is there actually quality control at ubisoft or just a clock that counts down to christmas sales.

Upon looking at the 360 version i`m actually ashamed and embarressed for your team, the hardware isn`t lacking on the PS3, You could, and should have addressed ALL of the problems, that you knew existed BEFORE you released this game. I`m not holding my breath for a patch as i`m fairly certain if ubisoft couldn`t be bothered to finish the title in the first place properly its unlikely they are gonna rewrite and optimise the game code in a patch (even if they could). You should have delayed the launch on the PS3 and pulled your finger out.

Apparently you built this from scratch, side by side with the 360, at what point did you just say...... " It`s ok PS3 Owners won`t mind that they get a Untested/unfinished game"

You could have made this game a classic, The potential is right there when you play it, Its completely dwarfed though by the complete lack of customer satisfaction in relation to the Awful Screen Tearing and Iffy framerates, bugs, freezes... glitches.... its a waste.... and i`ve wasted my money on your game.

I have 4 friends who bought this game for ps3, all are coming right here at somepoint to complain as well in the hope you will put resources into rectifying all the problems which are being reported.

When games are selling at 60 dollars (or more) - I want a finished product. Now, I understand that AC just shipped, but all I'm asking for is a response from Ubi that the problems us PS3 users are having, will be fixed.

Judging from this topic, they're totally ambivalent to what's going on - or just ignoring the problem. All I want is a guarantee that what's going on will be fixed, and I'll be happy.

I agree, if someone from Ubi can just respond and let us know that things are being worked on, I would feel much better. I love this game, one of the best titles I have played in a long time. I have had this game freeze on me twice now. Using FW 2.00. I am also extremely disappointed with the screen tearing. It is constant and VERY distracting. UBI, you know what the hardware can do, you should know how to use it by now. If you have to compromise in game assets then fine. Just don't ruin the entire experience by releasing a game that you can't even focus your eyes on because the screen is torn to shreds. It's the "next-gen" of gaming...we've all got 50+ inch TV's..you got to make the game smooth or don't make it at all. You should be ashamed of yourselve's...you know it needed more time, but obviously the Christmas season dictated that your game was finished.

Pretty much everyone is running on 2.00 firmware. Whenever I run around, all of the people, including Altair, freeze, but you can still rotate the camera. Also, when I save a citizen, the citizen is nowhere to be found, so I have to rescue her/him again. For the freezing issue, all I have to do is reset once, then it runs perfectly. Ubisoft, please release a patch ASAP. I'd really appreciate it.

I've experienced more than half a dozen crashes since purchasing the game yesterday.

At first it was only during loading sequences (i.e. the level would never load) but now it has happened during gameplay too (basically, everything will stop but the game will still register context sensitive buttons... just nothing happens).

I bet the update does concern Assassin's Creed. If so, it kinda bothers me though - updating the firmware to address a game issue. I wonder if it is just bugs in the firmware, or Sony didn't include a good game-updating system like the 360 so it has to be done this way :-/. We'll see!

How many PS3's have been sold? Around 6 million, right? And how many people bought Assassin's Creed on the PS3 for now? I am guessing a number around 40 or 50.000 discs. That are 45.000 people enjoying the game without any freezes and 5000 people having loads of problems with this game. Is it Ubisoft's problem? Is it Sony's problem with the lack of good firmware update, or does it lie with the NTSC version and not the PAL version, or the other way around? There's no way we can know for sure until either Sony puts out their firmware update or if Ubisoft puts out a patch for Assassin's Creed. For now I would suggest for some people to stop saying stuff like: Ubisoft is the worst company I have ever seen - You and I both know that's ******ed. Give these guys a break, they are doing everything they can to locate the problem.

The same thing happen to me with a tree on my first day. Until a few minutes ago the game give me a real ugly frame drop 2 two are the only problem that I go until today.

While i agree pointing the finger of blame is in no way helpful, These bugs SHOULD have been picked up through testing, and while you say x amount of people have this game perhaps some either don`t know where to go to find help, don`t actually care, or have somehow managed to play the game the way ubisoft tested it.

I`m sorry but the only way to actually impliment any sort of change is to make your voice heard, either that or just take the game back. Problem is i like the game, from what i`ve played (HAHA), but it IS plagued by problems (PS3, cannot say about 360).

That is my opinion and i will voice it.

Implementing any sort of patch is going to be time consuming, they should have just finished it, And Judging by Ubisoft`s Track Record of Fixing Issues with games PERIOD, I`m not left feeling Optimistic..... They Rushed it for Christmas.... and that is what it boils down to. End OF.

I'm reading on the forums of the Dutch PS3 Community Forums and not one of those guys are having issues with the game. They are either not reporting it, (which I seriously doubt considering the amount of stuff they are talking about what just happened in their game), or they are all posting here. I seriously doubt that as well..

Why would one not make a thread over there so they can speak with their own language which is far easier to communicate with in the first place.

My brother is buying the PS3 version tomorrow and I will call him when he's playing the game. I really want to know if he has these issues or not. If he doesn't, the problem must lie somewhere else.

Perhaps there are some issues with the NTSC version? Perhaps there has been a cargoload full of game discs of Assassin's Creed who all have the same freezing/framerate issues due to software failures.

I find it weird that the Dutch community doesn't have the problems you guys are having. Really, really weird..

Its not only NTSC i'm playing a PAL version on 2.0 and i've frozen 3 times in 5 minutes and its getting really frustrating, i'v been freezing all day in various places (map screen several times, white screen several times and once jumping) The game when it can be played is great its just these glitches that should have been sorted beforehand. I'm seriously considering taking it back if nothings been done by Monday/Tuesday..Lets hope HAZE won't be as big of a farce as AC

I've had the same problem. The game constantly freezes or begins to run slow and choppy. I don't think it matters where you are in the game because it's frozen on me at a loading screen, and during random other parts throughout the game. I've gone through 3 cd's so it's obviously a manufacturing problem. Let's just hope they are able to make a patch to fix it!

There are only a few posts on that forum which are having the problems on either the PS3 or the Xbox 360. It does not give the guarantee that the problem is for everyone who will buy the game and play it on their console. This thread, however, is filled with posts with people having problems on the PS3.

It's really weird, but x amount of people are not having problems, and the other x amount of people are only encountering problems. I just hope for my brother that his version will not have these issues because he played the game on my 360 for around 2 hours and he absolutely loved it. He hasn't been this psyched about a game since God of War came out. It would be a huge dissapointment for him if the game keeps freezing.

Also got some errors in the 'future' part of the game, for example: right at the beginning of memory block 2, the female assistant didn't show, there was no option to go onto the table, and when I was in my bedroom the door shut and I had to restart http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

PS3 support told me to shut down the information bar that was added in V2.00. I'll try that tomorrow morning.

I am using FW 2.00, on a 60 gb ps3. I haven't played long (only 2 times for about 2 hours each time), but have had 2 freezes so far. First was as I was riding my horse into Damascus on the first day (got the white screen), and the second was when I was loading my saved game on the second day (was able to move around in the crazy load screen, but it never actually loaded my game). Another odd note is that I haven't been able to quit the game or shut down my system normally from the PS button (while in game). I select the options, and either nothing happens (turn off system) or my PS3 beeps at me and restarts itself (quit game).

I don't have any of the problems mentioned here,and I have the 2.00 FW, but I think It may be that the data file is corrupt (not the save game file) Look under games, then the game data utility then look for the Assasins Creed data file and delete it. Be sure to delete the game data file not the game save file. Then start the game and let it reinstall the game data. Since most people are not having problems, I think this may be the solution to the problem, Hopefully. If this helps, let me know.

I just tried this, and it still froze on me. Im really getting pissed off because i havent been able to pull of my first assassination without it freezing and i have to start over.

I'm using 2.0 version of PS3 and had 2 freezings on separate occassions. I have asked gamestop if I could return my game after the 4th freeze. I'm still on my second so if this happens again on the fort version I will but the xbox 360 version. I might return my playstation 3 if the issue is with playstation 3.

The first happened while I was riding the horse on the way towards damarcus and the second happened after living the outside the castle after climbing down the ladder.

It is a great game. I can't believe the amount of efforts Ubisoft produce in this game. Bravo Zulu and if the xbox 360 is the same with freezing this game will loose its ground as the game of the year.

I live in germany and like many of you I was a fan of the game long before it came out. I didn´t buy it yet, but I read the german critics and non of them have this freezing problems which you mention. Some are dissapointed of the gameplay but most of em are not. I have witnessed the crash in 3 different manners. they are as follows.

1. While in game, the characters and environment will freeze, however, you can still move the camera and the button presses are still shown on the HUD, but no response.

2. When loading, the game will skip to a "This disc may be damaged or dirty" error. This happens right as the load sequence is about to begin, not after or during.

3. While in the load screens, the game will freeze all but audio.

I gave a tip to Kotaku.com about the issues of Assasin's and this forum and they wrote a piece on it.

I hope all this will get Ubisofts attention. The state in which they've released a game is inexcusable. I did not pay 60 euros to become a beta tester!

yeah thats what always happens to me as well...also i had the problem of not being able to assassinate the other 2 people in the 3 cities you had to...but then i turned my game on today and was actually able to...weird not sure that its a glitch or not but when i went to the unexplored area of my map i searched for a viewpoint and it unlocked all the icons on my map for pickpocket ect. i just hope the rest of the game goes smoothly...probably not though

I guess at this point, There will be nothing to fix these freezing issues. Game is already gone gold. It is a little annoying. You have to reset the ps 3 from the box, and restart everything. Usually happens to me about every hour or so in different locations. Mostly during loading screen transitions. Sometimes When climbing jumping, ect. It must be an extremely difficult thing to fix! I assume Corporate let it slide to make the release date, because there is no way they didn't have these issues when they were testing it before shipment. Thus, I don't assume a patch or rerelease anytime soon! I should have got the 360 Version, but I didn't have very many games on the PS so I thought, why not! If you have both stick with the 360 Versions, unless of course it is a sony exclusive title. At least until the Development problems get solved on the PS3, which will prabably be a couple of years!!

Currently running 2.0. Usually happens when a lot is going on on the screen. Oddly enough I can still spin the camera around and I can still hear sound as well as see particles flying around in the air. Any help in the form of patches would be much appreciated.

I have had the same problem its froze 2 times with me now once where i was entering a new place it just went white and then when i was just walking as normal. I have read that an xbox gamer has had the same problem with it.

Now look, the reviewers versions worked fine so all UBI has to do is find out what they changed since then... If they didn't change anything, were screwed. If the problems where there during reviews but werent told about, were screwed...

UBI should be able to find the differences within a day or 2... if they haven't, you know they aren't doing anything at all or are all drunk from their 'celebration party'

It has frozen for me also, in game, I used the horse to get to the first builing with an eagle symbol above it, while trying to climb the building it froze.

Also as other people have mentioned above the screen tearing is very distracting, you cannot pan the camera and enjoy the view as the screen jitters so much. A real shame.

Guys try get off PS3 themes. I think it helped me, becouse im now withnout any freezes a lot of time.

thats not a bug thats part of the game. you go to the new district locate and synchronise a viewpoint to unlock the rest of the viewpoints on your map.

not only is ac a huge disappointment as a game, but it's also so buggy on the ps3 it's almost unplayable alltogether. Don't you test these things? Ridiculous vsync problems, choppy framerate, and freezing!?! Mine froze only once but that was the last straw for me. I feel cheated, I want my money back. Good luck with the sequel aholes.

I've experienced a few crashes too (5-6).
Firmware 2.0.
A few of them happened during a loading transition (load screen from a city to the reign) or while in the loading Animus screen (when Altair is alone on the blu screen), but they also happened during normal gamplay while I was jumping on the roofs in a city.
I suspect this is due to a bug in the game caused by the presence of an untested firmware.

turn off all ps2 options helps with sreen problems.. personaly i think it's the 2.0 firmware doing this instead of the game.. i've had all the problems posted aswell but solved most of them by turning off the options for the ps2 now it only freezes ...LOL.. atleast it runs better then double agent :-p

I just purchased Assassins Creed for PS3 and it ran perfectly until last night. I was walking around and the game froze. Once this happened, I did noticed that the music was still playing and that I could rotate the camera. Please fix this bug because I have always been a fan of Ubi.

Yep 2.o here also not signed in to the network & 5 freezes so far in first day, had them all white screen, wandering round etc. Gettin F*$%ed off with this, only just bought a PS3 & 3 new games just bought all have serious game stopping glitches (PES2008, Call of Duty4 & Assassins). Are the guys making these games actually testing them or what? Maybe time to unmothball the PS2!!!

Hello, I'm french and I took 2 days ago the edition collector of Assassin's creed and I'm dissapointed...There is a lot of freezing..and bugs too! for example, i was jumping with Altair in the city when the image stopped..the game was blocked, and I had to restart my PS3 systeme...So please Ubisoft we want a new firmware for our PS3 systeme to play normaly.

Hello um i have emailed ubisoft about my problem and my 4 other friends that have the assassins creed for ps3 don't bother trying to play though game it is mess up you can not pass memory book 4 you try to go up the towers and get objectives but looking over the areas but pushing triangle but you do this sand all it does is say you map is updated and all that happened is the view point has dis appears i tried every tower in every city (Jerusalem, acre, Damascus)in memory book 4 and none give objective............. my friend has it for the 360 and his works fine....... I bought the game 2 days ago and went and returned at and got another thinking it might just be the **** but i continue to have the same problem???? my game keeps locking up crashing and all sorts of things the game worked fine until memory book 4 (besides all of the problems its the best game i have played for the ps3 yet) Thanks for your time

First off to all the users complaining about this game being a big disappointment. Personally I think this is withouts doubt THE game of the year for ps3...in fact, this is why I bought my ps3 on release in march. And the game was everything I hoped it would be. Hitman meets Prince of Persia with a dash of GTA^_^ THe graphic is stunning, the city life seems very much alive [only thing that annoys me is all the beggars asking for gold. Having the game freeze is, yes, very frustrating , but it is in NO way a "waste of 60$" like several has claimed....

I'm using fw.2.0, auto sign on for Playstation network thingy and running 1080 with a hdmi cable. The CD is in perfect condition straight out of the box. The game has frozen twice during game play, and once after assassinating the second mark on the white "saving screen" during maby 12 hours of play.

Prnkstr1985, sure it's a bit like hitman nad gta and POP, except worse. In Hitman, you had to atleast disguise yourself so you didn't get noticed. In ac you just press a button. In POP there were beautiful levels designed for some of the best platforming ever. In AC you jump around automatically on rooftops pressing down two buttons. Meh.

you guys make it seem like i ahve the worst case of freezing. My copy of AC freezes after only a few minutes, I HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN MY FIRST ASSASSINATION! I hardly have enough time to get to the next save point. Ive found out the changing the resolution to 720 helps a little not not that much.

Will you please go away and bug another forum. Your posts are not helping to SOLVE THE PROBLEM in any way. If you have the PS3 version of the game and it's freezing on you then post your firmware version and shut off.

Your opinions about Ubisoft and Sony are irrelevant, let's work the problem and try to find a solution. If you're not interested in that, go gripe somewhere else.
