@mynameismyself

I only glanced at the video title and rushed to post it here on the forums I didn't know it would be as fast paced as that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

After watching the video all the way through I agree that it was probably the loudest walkthrough yet xD

it looks like he fails the first time, and than the guard is cooperating with him and than actually helping sam take him out.

I think everyone wants to shoot down that chandiler onto those guys...I mean, I know I want to...because, well, it's funny. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Also, about the kids, if they're on xbl, they already know every word in the book...so...oh well. heh.

Very vocal...I bet the voice actors really had fun. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We have yet to see a video where they skip the chandelier. It seems that is the crescendo to alerting the guards in the whole mansion. It make sense too. I would much rather see the whole mansion become alerted than go "oh, must of been nothing." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

"You're chicken **** Fisher, do you hear me?"

"Some ***** is gonna come through that door and we're just gonna pop him!"

And I thought the voice acting for enemies in Chaos Theory was unenthusiastic. A Speak and Spell could have done a better job at delivering those lines. I miss the lively, slavic accents of SC1 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Was that guard deaf at 1:47? A guard would've heard him coming in the previous installments. And what was up with that 2 second flinch?

Those guards sound like the kind of guard you would see in some action movie. At least the other guards did sound like real guards. Maybe they talk like that because they're thugs?

The ending was (again) not very stealthy, but there were some parts which were definitely up to the 'action stealth' label...

Stealth? STEALTH? That was as stealthy as a breaching charge would be in Rainbow Six.

Seriously? They call that a stealth gameplay trailer?

This is what happens when you bring in the action game devs into a game that is based on stealth.

Hell, splinter cell was originally marketed as a Stealth-Action game. This is just an action game now.

You don't charge at people unless you want to be killed! Sam obviously wants to be killed!

This video was made for comic-con, right? I can tell that it's not a big event for Splinter Cell and the video is really bad. Perhaps it's was made by someone who barely knows not even what Conviction is but what the Splinter Cell games are about. It's just my opinion though and I say only that the video does not show the full potential of he game (maybe it doesn't show anything at all) and I think that what we saw in this video is definitely not stealth nor action. There are A BUNCH OF MISTAKES coming one by one, it's not how the game is meant to be played and I think maybe the man who played the game was totally unprepaired or unaware of all the new features and how they work People who play can ruin the game but it's not like the game's bad by itself. Though the game still can be played stealthy I think. Anyways, take even Chaos Theory and this kind of gameplay - I don't even want to think about what's gonna happen then, heheh http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif . And why the video has cam written at the end of the title? I don't even know what the video was supposed to show.

Yes, I watched all the videos about this game, interviews and etc. And I can say that I noticed some mistakes. And in the G4 video this mistake's not major anyway. But who is ideal? I didn't see any game presenting without some mistakes. If in this video the game was played by someone from the dev team, this man was probably playing it for the first time or he was trying so hard and was so nervous that he made the mistakes.

I have a question Razz. If you don't shoot the chandelier and do the mission stealthy, Koben doesn't know you're coming and his guard don't block and await you at the door?

The only difference between this gameplay and the one at E3, was that Sam crouched while moving instead of running in a standing position. That doesn't make the gameplay in the vid, stealth.
BTW that pipe he used was very strangely placed. pipes like that belongs on the outside of a building of between the walls. They are not exposed like that in a real mansion:P

No body honestly knows!!! Its baffles most of us here as to why it would be so unbelievably hard to show us this route and reveal how much effort they've put forth into the stealth side of things.

My guess? They are reluctant to show it as it would reveal to all the stealth fans how utterly uninteresting and stripped the whole experience would be to play through the level in such a manner, as it would not include a single new feature (or improvement) on any of the stealth aspects of the previous games.

It would just be Sam shooting lights, throwing EMP grenades and making sounds to distract guards (by putting bullets in walls) so he could sneak by.

Hopefully they will rectify the situation of an entire disregard for stealth development in this game with this next delay, but I doubt they will :sigh:

Basically, the kind of stealth you ( and I, for that matter ) would like to see ; would require revolutionary enemy AI and gameplay structure. But such things are computationally not possible yet in gaming. (at least, apparantly....)

Anyway, I did like this video. The guards with a punk attitude & trash talking is a whole lot more riveting than scared guards.

Anyway, I did like this video. The guards with a punk attitude & trash talking is a whole lot more riveting than scared guards.

You're right. AI is one of the more limiting factors, yes. But guards can be as smart as you like, they will eventually become predictable.

When I talk about stealth development, I'm talking about making it more interesting for the player to play in this manner. Or else at least AS interesting as previous stealth experiences, while you implement new action features/fatalities.

That video looks terrible IMO. Even as an action game. Sam's fearless and unstoppable as he just runs through the entire level M&E-ing everyone, then getting a stealth kill so he can go back to M&E-ing again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Although, even with 'simple' AI, one could create challenging enemy AI to fit stealth play. Imo, Metal Gear Solid 3 isn't exactly realistic (respawning), but the MGS AI has always - for fact - used very realistic sweeper team tactics to hunt Snake down.
Either way ; they always pose a fun challenging threat.

The reason I liked the vid was because of the extended length, which gave me a better view of all of Sam's new subtle moves. What I fear(ed) though ; is M & E shooting to become a too powerful leverage...similar to how CQC was a potential overpowering leverage in the 2007 build.
The 'danger' would be that the stealth element gets reduced to ranged shots, each & everytime ; as if the game would become Point & Click ( M & E ).

It would be best to limit the ammo, in order to force the player to use up close & personal sneaking skills.

This is NOT stealth gameplay. Holy $^#%. What is wrong with you people? If this is how Conviction plans to offer a stealth option then I am out of here. I do not like what I see.

Edit: Okay. Having read Razz's comment I feel better now.

Same here. Even as an action game it was comical and sad at the same time. I could never play through 6 hours of what I just saw.

If you want to get a feeling of how Conviction MAY turn out, just play any of the original Splinter Cell games complete rambo style.

To me this looked like it was played by a non-developer, because the gameplay isn't very fluid, and the player is going into situations without much pre-thought.
