View Full Version : "Planes preload is a MUST!" Ok, I don't get a thing... HELP!

Does this simply mean throwing in one stationary example of every single flyable aircraft model in the mission? Or two sets, one at each airbase?
I don't see how this would help at all, since the game I'm planning to host will have every flyable prop 404m plane in the game (but the A6M2-N).
Also, isn't it in the way quite a bit, especially for a small-arena online df server...
Thanks for any help!

Yes. One example of each, hidden away in a quiet corner where they won't get destroyed by some over-enthusiastic vulcher.
This only applies to Dogfight maps. If you don't do it then you'll see noticeable pauses and stutters every time someone spawns.
Cheers!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Not at the airbases. Way out of the way in a corner of the map somewhere where no-one's likely to go. One set will do.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Stationary Aircraft. It's the 3d model we're interested in and in any case for DF maps objects from the Aircraft list simply wont appear.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Would this help in Offline campaign building, say on your _Base template you use for mission builds, or not? Is it only used in DF servers? I noticed with QOT (quick object tool), there are 4 modules for all the different airforces (German, RAF/Usa, Russian and Japanese) planesets made up already to use.
Thanks in advance.

As I understand it, preloading the planes (or any moving vehicle, for that matter) will help in any situation where those objects are set to spawn at a later time. The first time some object has to spawn, the system has to draw the 3D image. So having it loaded and drawn during mission startup avoids any stutter later during flight time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ok Thanks NHawk52, I'll try dropping them in a distant corner of my base templates, and see if things improve.
